Small neighbors accompany a person throughout his entire history. They live in an apartment and a house, in a basement and in a warehouse. There is not a single human habitat that we would not share with arthropods. Sometimes this cohabitation is safe, but more often it causes inconvenience and even real harm.
Arthropods living next to humans or directly in our home are very diverse. What kind of species will live with you depends on the latitude, time of year, and even on what material the house is built from. But with all the diversity, they can be combined into groups.
Domestic insects – main groups:
- Parasites are all arthropods that feed on human blood. They live next to a person, some constantly, for example, bedbugs, some temporarily – fleas and mosquitoes.
- Pests – do not bite, at least unnecessarily, but at the same time they cause significant damage. They damage clothing, furniture and homes. Eating and disabling food supplies. They carry parasites and dangerous diseases. These include cockroaches, moths, termites, ants, etc.
- Harmless insects just live nearby. These include millipedes, flycatchers and silverfish. Spiders can be conventionally referred to this category.
Some animal lovers have arthropods as non-standard pets. They can be classified as relatively harmless.
Some arthropods living near humans are more common than others. This is due to high fertility and easy adaptation to environmental conditions. Their photos cause involuntary rejection, especially those that cause harm.
Household pests:
- Cockroaches inhabit all corners of the planet. They can live both in an expensive city apartment and in a cozy country house. The main thing for them is the availability of water and any food.
- Ants are a real scourge of private houses and old apartments. They move along the internal floors, live in columns in several nests. To get rid of these pests, residents of apartment buildings need to join forces.
- Bed bugs settle in furniture, wallpaper and carpets. Their bites are extremely painful, and you can get rid of such roommates only by calling a team of exterminators.
- Fleas are mainly brought by pets from walks. They are dangerous because they carry diseases, such as plague.
- Moles do not pose an immediate threat to humans, but they spoil clothing and food.
- Silverfish sometimes crawl into the bathtub or toilet. They pose no threat, but look unpleasant. Simple airing of bathrooms saves them.
These are just the most common types of domestic arthropods.
