Dolphin Skin is a new beauty trend from Instagram worth trying

We figure out how to repeat wet makeup yourself.

Social networks have long been not only dictating fashion trends to us, but also inspiring unusual beauty experiments. And this cannot but rejoice, because lately, the most popular among top makeup artists and influencers are natural makeup options, which so favorably emphasize the advantages of pure skin in daylight. The new Instagram trend – dolphin skin, or “dolphin skin”, attracted special attention of top bloggers. We propose to study its features and application rules in order to surprise colleagues and subscribers in a radiant way tomorrow.

Features of dolphin skin makeup

Iconic London’s makeup artist Mary Phillips has the idea for a glowing, petrol-shimmery makeup. The secret of this look is the use of liquid textures, of which the main product is a highlighter. Therefore, it is easy to guess where the name “dolphin skin” came from, because the key features of makeup are mirror smoothness, glow and shiny play, like a mammal emerging from the water.

It is not surprising that after the first publication of the “dolphin” make-up, millions of girls around the world began to try to repeat a similar image and share the results on Instagram under the hashtag #dolphinskin.

How to do dolphin makeup?

  1. Before creating a make-up, makeup artist Kim Kardashian and Haley Bieber advises to thoroughly cleanse the skin to avoid oily sheen (the glow will be enough anyway). Then we apply a day cream.

  2. The next step is the foundation. Here it is better to give preference to products with a natural, slightly damp finish, setting aside matte textures for another time.

  3. Next, we proceed to light contouring, which must be done with a bronzer or blush with a shimmer.

  4. Then we move on to the most important stage – the application of highlighters. Important: to achieve a sparkling, wet finish, makeup artists recommend using both liquid and dry textures (first, the first ones – we apply them with a sponge or finger, then the second ones – with a fan brush). Where to apply? On the protruding parts of the face: the upper part of the cheekbones, temples, the tip of the nose, on a tick above the upper lip, under the eyebrow.

  5. Makeup should be finished with powder. Apply it to the middle of the forehead, nose and chin. As for the eyebrows, eye and lip makeup, they can be done in the manner you are accustomed to, or they can be left completely intact, only by highlighting the eyebrows with gel.

  6. If suddenly the glow seems to you not bright enough, at the end you can use a fixing spray with glitter. After such a remedy, you will definitely not go unnoticed.

Lifehacks of a beauty editor

– For several weeks now I have been trying to recreate the dolphin skin in various variations. For everyday makeup I can advise you to dwell on 1-2 highlighter options and combine them with a slight blush, “bare” eyes and highlighted eyebrows. And here for the party you can go all the way and experiment with different textures and highlighter shades (gold, copper, pink, lavender and even rainbow). Also pay attention to the shimmer particles: they can be either small, which are easily shaded, or large, more like sparkles. Important: do not forget about the neckline, collarbones and hangers – on them the highlighting highlighter will look especially seductive.
