The life expectancy of dogs is on average about 15-16 years, which, of course, is extremely short by human standards. But during this time, our four-legged friends have time to go through all life stages – from birth to old age. This is because dogs mature much faster than humans, especially in their first years of life. Moreover, the rate of development depends on the size – the larger the pet, the faster it matures and ages.
Below is a table of the ages of dogs of different breeds by human standards: from 1 year to 15 years.
Dog age | human age | |||
1 | 15 | 15 | 14 | 12 |
2 | 23 | 29 | 28 | 28 |
3 | 28 | 34 | 35 | 35 |
4 | 32 | 38 | 40 | 45 |
5 | 36 | 42 | 45 | 49 |
6 | 40 | 47 | 50 | 56 |
7 | 44 | 51 | 55 | 64 |
8 | 48 | 56 | 61 | 71 |
9 | 52 | 60 | 66 | 78 |
10 | 56 | 65 | 72 | 86 |
11 | 60 | 69 | 72 | 93 |
12 | 64 | 74 | 82 | 101 |
13 | 68 | 78 | 88 | 108 |
14 | 72 | 78 | 88 | 108 |
15 | 76 | 83 | 93 | 115 |
As we can see, by the first year of life, representatives of all breeds can be considered teenagers, by the second – youth. From the third year the difference in accordance with human age becomes obvious and further increases. 15 years for small dogs is old age, but for large breeds and giants it is already a deep old age.
