When 30-year-old Romani began to give birth, the doctors did not believe her: the face of the future mother was too calm and serene.
No torment, unbearable pain, convulsions twisting the whole body into a tourniquet, a face distorted by suffering. The girl is snuggled up in a warm bath, chatting with the midwife, sipping tea, and now and then dipping chocolate chip cookies into a cup. It was in this environment that the birth of the first-born Romani Baldwin took place.
Romani did not receive an epidural. She was not given any pain relievers at all. She is one of the lucky few to have a so-called epidural gene. It raises the pain threshold so much that childbirth does not bring the slightest discomfort. Such a genetic trick is extremely rare: as a study from the University of Cambridge showed, about one in a hundred women.
“Having a daughter was a euphoric experience,” says Romani.
The girl became pregnant at the end of 2017 and prepared for all the hardships of pregnancy: acquaintances who had already become mothers vied with each other to tell how difficult it was for them. But Romani was nervous in vain. Nine months passed easily: there was no toxicosis, no edema, no discomfort.
“I did yoga, I walked a lot. But the closer the due date was, the more worried I became. You know, no one talks about childbirth as a simple thing. The prospect of going to the hospital, under those cold lamps, where everyone is screaming, scared me. So I decided to give birth at home, ”Romani told The Sun.
And then came the day X – the waters moved away. Romani slowly called her midwives and went to bed awaiting labor pains. One cup of tea after another, nice TV series – there was no pain. The girl even decided to tidy up a little, since the baby is in no hurry. Soon the midwives arrived.
“Looking at me, they thought it was a false alarm – it is impossible to give birth with such a serene face. But the examination showed that the disclosure is rather big. I was asked about the regularity of contractions, but I could not say anything, my stomach sometimes just seemed to squeeze, and that’s it. The midwives looked dazed, ”continues Romani.
And now the woman in labor is sitting in the bathtub, chirping with the midwives, drinking tea.
“Soon I felt that I needed to get on all fours and push. I did so. In a few seconds Aida was already lying on my chest, and I was laughing with happiness, ”says the young mother. And the first thing she said after giving birth: “I want to give birth again!”
According to Romani, epilation of the bikini area was given to her with more difficulty and discomfort than childbirth. Therefore, as soon as both of them and her husband mature to their second child, she will certainly give birth to more.
