Doculax is used for the prevention of constipation, the treatment of chronic constipation, especially in patients with haemorrhoids and / or anal fissures, and in patients for whom, due to their medical condition, increased effort to pass stools is not recommended.

Doculax – indications and dosage

Doculax is a drug recommended:

  1. in the prevention of constipation,
  2. in the treatment of chronic constipation (especially in patients with haemorrhoids and / or anal fissures and in patients for whom, due to their health condition, increased effort to pass stools is not recommended).

Dosage

Doculax is in the form of soft capsules and is intended for oral use. The drug should be taken with a glass of water or fruit juice. Do not exceed the recommended dose. The preparation works after 1-3 days of treatment.

  1. Adults: 50-200 mg / d.
  2. Children 6-12. years of age: 50-100 mg / d.

Doculax – contraindications

Contraindications to the use of Doculax are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. nausea,
  3. vomiting,
  4. appendicitis,
  5. bowel obstruction,
  6. conditions threatening the occurrence of intestinal obstruction,
  7. acute abdominal pain of unknown etiology,
  8. gastrointestinal bleeding of unknown etiology,
  9. states of dehydration of the body.

Doculax – warnings

  1. It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 7-10 days, as this may result in becoming resistant to the drug and not responding to treatment.
  2. In the event of rectal bleeding, changes in the frequency of passing stools, its consistency or other disturbances in the functioning of the large intestine, which last longer than 2 weeks, a doctor should be consulted. This consultation is necessary because the symptoms listed above may indicate serious lesions, including the formation of a neoplasm.
  3. Pregnant women may take the preparation only after consulting a doctor.
  4. The use of Doculax while breast-feeding is not recommended.

Doculax with other medications

  1. Doculax is not recommended to be taken with: mineral oil (liquid paraffin) due to the possibility of increased uptake of mineral oil by the lymphatic system, which leads to inflammation of the lymph nodes, intestinal mucosa, liver and spleen.
  2. Do not use with dantrone as liver damage may occur.
  3. The use of zroperidol, levomethadone, digitalis glycosides increases the risk of cardiac dysfunction.
  4. Concomitant use with corticosteroids leads to a decrease in blood potassium levels.
  5. It is not recommended to use with acetylsalicylic acid due to the intensification of its side effects on the gastrointestinal mucosa.
  6. Taking the drug simultaneously with tetracycline antibiotics and diuretics increases the risk of a decrease in blood potassium levels.

Doculax – side effects

While taking Doculax may appear:

  1. nausea,
  2. vomiting,
  3. stomach pain,
  4. diarrhea,
  5. rash.
