Difficult situation in clinics in Poland
«Taking into account the fact that patients with various diseases meet in a small area of the waiting room, it is not difficult to get infected. It is the largest habitat of viruses and bacteria. Coming with a runny nose or for a prescription is recklessness and a serious risk »- warns the president of the Alliance of Healthcare Employers Bożena Janicka.
The crowd in clinics is the result of the peak flu season. In February alone, over 800 people fell ill in Poland. people, 23 people died because of it. Added to this are lighter seasonal infections, as well as anxiety about the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus around the world.

«The situation is very difficult for everyone. Both for patients and medical staff. Family doctors see dozens of patients every day. Unfortunately, many of them come without a valid indication. Runny nose, scratchy throat, headache. Patients also ask for prescriptions only. They do not realize that in this way they risk getting sick themselves »- alarms Janicka.
What do doctors advise? If the patient only wants to get a prescription for drugs that he is taking on a permanent basis, it is best to use an e-prescription, which can be ordered over the phone.
PPOZ doctors remind that prevention is very simple – in a few steps you can reduce the risk of catching viral infections. What to do? First of all, avoid large crowds of people, ventilate rooms regularly and take care of hygiene. The key is to wash your hands properly – you need to do it with warm soapy water for 15-30 seconds. If you do not have access to a wash basin, it is best to clean your hands with special alcohol-based disinfectants.
«Washing your hands is especially important after each touch of the banknotes, which quickly change hands and pick up viruses. In accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization, in order to reduce the risk of infection, contactless payments should be used »- says Bożena Janicka.
