Specialists recommend this type of load especially to those who are over 50.
It is unlikely that we will be mistaken if we say that people who are indifferent to summer cottages do not exist. Someone likes digging in the ground, while someone from childhood fiercely hates the dacha and everything connected with it. And by the way, the first point of view has far more health benefits than the second. And the point is not even that vegetables, berries and greens grown with your own hands are healthier than purchased ones. It’s about physical activity as such.
Gardening has already been compared to yoga, mentioning the meditative effect of fiddling in the garden. And British doctors added that work on the site could well replace, for example, a swimming pool. And in all seriousness they advise their patients over 50 to do the garden at least twice a week. Gardening is as beneficial as swimming – the effect of maintaining your physical condition is unconditional.
But this is what British scientists say. After all, they don’t know that our domestic fans of summer cottages tend to kill themselves in the beds so that later they don’t feel their backs and legs. So, doctors do not welcome such fanaticism. An hour a day is enough. And add shopping and climbing stairs to gardening, which are quite capable of replacing strength exercises. In addition, people over 50 are advised to take up dancing or oriental gymnastics to improve coordination and avoid falls and related injuries.
If all of these recommendations are followed, doctors promise to reduce the risk of developing type XNUMX diabetes, cardiovascular disease and depression. And also getting rid of insomnia, which becomes a real curse in old age.
Interview
Do you like digging in the beds?
Maybe I would like it if I didn’t have to do this in order to feed my family.
I like it, I plant a little of everything and I am happy to tinker in the ground.
No, since childhood I hate this occupation.
I have no opportunity to work in a vegetable garden.
All my gardening is houseplants.
