Unexpectedly, it’s not even alcohol.
How does a normal office work start? Usually not from a planning meeting, not from a post office or a meeting, but from tea or coffee. And during the day, a mug of tea is the most demanded tool, no less needed than a computer. And now, when many work remotely, you can indulge in seagull even more often. Moreover, brew a normal drink, and not from a bag. And this tendency is alarming for doctors.
“Usually people have a regimen, many adhere to a certain dietary pattern. And with the introduction of quarantine, this scheme seemed to be disabled, – complains Dr. Grace Farhat from Hope University of Liverpool. “Many people not only started to arrange an endless cheat-meal for themselves, but also became overly addicted to tea and coffee.”
Well, what about without them, if you constantly want to eat and sleep on self-isolation, but somehow you need to keep yourself in good shape? But the doctor insists: you need to look for another way out. Otherwise, we risk getting out of quarantine not only with excess weight, but also with vitamin deficiency.
“The tannins in tea can interfere with the absorption of some important vitamins and minerals, in particular calcium and iron. This can be a real problem, ”warns Dr. Farhat.
To avoid possible troubles, the doctor advises to limit yourself to five cups of coffee and tea a day – together! Not five cups of both! And in any case, do not drink these drinks before meals. For lunch, you can take at least an hour after the tea party.
“Both tea and coffee also contain caffeine. Its amount in the diet also needs to be controlled, ”warns the doctor. Apparently, coffee lovers, in order to maintain their health, will have to switch to decaf. But it will help to avoid health problems in the long term – according to doctors, diet is now as important as regular hand washing: “We should think about what we eat and drink.” Otherwise, the coronavirus pandemic will be replaced by an epidemic of obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, from which hundreds of thousands of people already suffer. “
