Doctors advise a Scandinavian menu to support heart health

Traditional products of Scandinavian cuisine are able to overcome not only diabetes, but also heart and vascular diseases. These include lingonberries, cranberries, blueberries, meat, nuts, cereals and legumes, as well as rasp oil and milk.

The benefits of these products for diabetics and those who fail the heart and blood vessels have been proven by Swedish doctors in the course of scientific research, which was attended by about 309 people, whose age was at least 55 years.

The participants in the experiment were divided into two groups. Members of one followed a Scandinavian menu that included whole grains, meat, milk, nuts, berries, and three fish meals each week. All the rest continued to eat the foods they were used to.

The experiment lasted six long months. After that, doctors from the first group of respondents noted improved lipid metabolism, which meant a decrease in the risk of heart and vascular diseases. And a low level of interleukin, which suggests a low likelihood of developing diabetes.

Given these data, Swedish experts advise those suffering from metabolic syndrome to adhere to the Scandinavian menu, the benefits of which for the heart are fully proven by them.
