Liqueurs and tinctures (Doctor August) are produced by several domestic distilleries at once. The brand’s drinks have been on the Russian market for more than eight years and are in demand due to their natural composition, pleasant taste and affordable price. Drinks are created on the basis of old recipes, where carefully selected ingredients harmonize and complement each other.
Brand History
The Doctor August brand belongs to the Beluga Group, one of the largest importers and producers of alcohol on the Russian market. The company was founded in 1999 under the name “Synergy”. The first enterprise of the holding was Ussuri Balsam, known for its taiga herbal tinctures. Currently, the group includes five distilleries in different regions of Russia, as well as a winery in the Krasnodar Territory. The company ranks first in the country in terms of production of liqueurs and bitters.
The Beluga Group holding introduced the Doctor August trademark in 2013. The brand line includes 28 types of sweet and bitter tinctures inspired by old recipes. The peculiarity of the drinks is that they are made only from natural ingredients: aromatic herbs, nuts, fruits and berries, and the raw materials are purchased from reliable suppliers. In production, a minimum of flavors is used, all ingredients are carefully selected.
The recipe for Doctor August tinctures was developed by the technologists of the Mariinsky Distillery. The company became part of the Beluga Group in 2006. The holding has invested heavily in new equipment, the introduction of advanced technologies and the modernization of lines. Just a few years later, the plant took a leading position in the region in terms of output and annually produces 1,7 million decaliters of alcoholic beverages.
Production technology
Liqueurs and liqueurs “Doctor August” are based on high-quality alcohol “Lux” and soft water from our own artesian wells. Each type of product contains original additives: fruit and citrus essential oils, cinnamon, vanillin and other spices. Berries and herbs insist on a water-alcohol mixture in closed stainless steel vats or in oak barrels that are over a hundred years old. The resulting compositions are filtered and added to drinks.
Mixing takes place in strict sequence and in accordance with the recipe. First, prepared fruit drinks and aromatic spirits are placed in the vat, then sugar syrup and citric acid are added. Thanks to modern equipment for water treatment, aging and filtration, drinks acquire an impeccable taste. Liqueurs are bottled on a new line, made according to an individual project at enterprises in Italy and Germany and designed for a capacity of 6 bottles per hour.
Types of liqueurs “Doctor August”
In the Doctor August collection there are three types of liquors with a strength of 20%. In addition to the Mariinsky Distillery, the brand’s drinks are produced by two other enterprises of the holding: Ussuri Balsam in Primorsky Krai and JSC Alviz in Arkhangelsk. All factories follow the same technology and use natural ingredients.
The most popular Doctor August liqueurs:
- Berry Mix is a combination of aromatic spirits infused with cranberries, lingonberries and blueberries. The drink has a rich berry bouquet and a pleasant fruity aftertaste;
- “Juicy Cherry” – a mixture of alcohol fruit drinks from ripe cherries, chokeberries and blueberries. Almond infusion brings nutty tones to the liquor and gives tart notes at the finish;
- “Raspberry Jam” is made from aromatic spirits infused with raspberries and black currants. The liqueur is characterized by a bright berry flavor without excessive cloying.
How and with what to drink Doctor August tinctures
Doctor August liqueurs and tinctures are served after the main meal in small glasses with a capacity of 30-50 ml. Sweet alcoholic drinks are in harmony with desserts: pastries and ice cream.
Due to its berry composition, liqueurs are combined with citrus juices: orange or grapefruit. “Raspberry Jam” can be mixed with banana juice in a ratio of one to two, in this case it is worth adding ice cubes to the cocktail.
Drinks will be a good addition to afternoon coffee or tea.
