Dobrynya garlic – variety description

Description of the variety of garlic “Dobrynya”

How to grow Dobrynya garlic?

This variety is winter, so it should be planted outdoors in autumn. The distance between the shoots is from 2 to 10 cm, and the required depth is up to 6 cm. Despite its resistance to frost, it must be planted on the sunny side. And during the cold weather, cover the beds with peat or sawdust, 3-4 cm thick. The ripening period is the end of July.

For reproduction are used:

  • seeds;
  • teeth;
  • one-toothed bulbs.

Over the years, garlic yields less and its quality deteriorates. Therefore, after 4-5 years, you need to update the variety, independently collecting seed material.

Also, the amount of harvest depends on what time the garlic is planted. The optimal planting time is 40 or 45 days before permanent frosts. This is late September or early October, depending on the region. Dobrynya produces sprouts already on April 15-20. Untimely landings will cause a number of problems:

  • Planting during high temperatures will lead to premature growth. The sprouts formed will freeze and part of the crop will be lost. And the seeds that remain will spend some of the nutrients in the formation of seedlings. As a result, the quality of the head will deteriorate.
  • When planted late, the roots will not have time to form, and in the spring the garlic will grow slowly.

If the time is right, garlic has time to release roots up to 10 cm long, but does not form sprouts.

The Dobrynya variety is suitable both for fresh consumption and for conservation. Its aroma will add an unforgettable taste to any dish.
