A stroke is a sudden stop of the blood supply to the brain. As much as 80 percent stroke is caused when a clot or embolism closes an artery that supplies blood to the brain. Fortunately, disease can be avoided by doing research. Free tests – as part of the Stop Udarom campaign – will be available on May 30 in Warsaw and May 31 in Bydgoszcz.
Those willing to visit Mobile Stroke Prevention Towns will be able to take advantage of free preventive examinations (blood sugar and pressure tests) and medical consultations. People whose results will be abnormal, can additionally consult them with a cardiologist (and if necessary, perform an ECG free of charge). This year, for the first time, a dietitian will be waiting for the town’s guests, who will explain how, by modifying eating habits, you can reduce the risk of a stroke.
Visitors to Mobile Stroke Prevention Towns will be provided with free educational materials on stroke, prepared in such a way that they are legible and understandable for people of all ages. In Mobile Towns of Stroke Prevention, you will also be able to learn how to perform a simple test yourself – pulse (pulse) measurement – which is enough for early diagnosis of atrial fibrillation – the most common cardiac arrhythmia, which increases the risk of stroke five times. There is also an educational path in the Mobile Towns of Stroke Prevention, thanks to which you can learn more about the symptoms of a stroke, how to properly respond in the event of their occurrence, as well as risk factors and disease prevention.
The Mobile City of Stroke Prevention will be built on May 30, 2017 at 11:00 am at ul. Krakowskie Przedmieście 68, next to the Church of St. Anna in Warsaw, and on May 31, 2017 (Wednesday) at 11: at Plac Wolności in Bydgoszcz.
