Back pain can be a symptom of COVID-19 infection
When we catch the flu, the characteristic “bone breaking” is one of the first signs of disease to recognize. It is accompanied by a feeling of breakdown, but also more specific symptoms, such as increased body temperature or stuffy nose.
The situation is similar in the case of COVID-19, therefore, in the era of the coronavirus pandemic, you need to be particularly alert to flu-like symptoms. This characteristic back pain may not be due to influenza, but infection with the Delta variant. This symptom affects an average of about 15 percent. all infected. Most often, the pain is located in the lumbar region or at the level of the shoulder blades. It may also be accompanied by muscle pain.
– In the course of COVID-19, these symptoms most often appear at the beginning of the disease, in the case of the Delta variant, they most often occur about 4-5 days after infection – said Dr. Bartosz Fiałek, rheumatologist in an interview with WP.

– The symptoms that we note in the course of COVID-19 are the most common symptoms of a cold, so it is difficult to tell whether we are dealing with a cold or COVID-19 – explained Dr. Fiałek for MedTvoiLokony. – This is what specific tests are for, such as RT-PCR, which detect genes of the new coronavirus. On this basis, we are able to determine whether it is a SARS-CoV-2 infection or, for example, with adenoviruses, rhinoviruses or other coronaviruses, because remember that we have four human coronaviruses that cause a cold.
