Rubber clogs and health
At first glance, it seems like shoes made for summer wear. Airy, light, they do not compress the fingers and do not rub the heels. Unfortunately, few people know that long walking in rubber clogs is not good for us.
– These shoes are comfortable and best for many people during the holiday season. However, we should be very careful with the chronic use of this type of footwear – warns Krzysztof Jagodziński, MD, an orthopedist from the Damian Medical Center.
– Our feet are not stable in them, and frequent use of these shoes can lead to corns, tendonitis, pain, and even deformation of the fingers, which do not feel comfortable in these shoes – says the expert.
A few years ago, there was a lot of media coverage of tendonitis, which can be caused by rubber clogs. Is there really such a risk?
— Tendinitis is a health problem that can arise when wearing rubber boots permanently. This is due to the long-term performance of specific, forced and unnatural movements by our feet in this footwear – says the orthopedist.
And he explains what are the symptoms that something is wrong: – Tendinitis most often manifests itself with pain, warming, redness and stiffness in the inflamed area.
So if we notice any disturbing ailments, it is better to give up wearing rubber flip-flops and replace them with a different type of footwear. Experts point out that you shouldn’t wear these shoes for too long, because that’s when the risk of foot problems increases.

Dr. Jagodziński explains:
– It is difficult to indicate the number of hours during the day when the use of such shoes will be safe for our feet. However, it should not be more than a few hours a day, especially when using them, for example, on a hard surface.
Don’t forget to take care of your feet regularly. Sylveco regenerating foot cream moisturizes the skin and softens callous epidermis.
