The “Question for Breakfast” deals with the topic of proper wound disinfection and the most common mistakes made in this process, including the use of hydrogen peroxide as a disinfectant. Paramedic Ariel Szczotok, who appeared in the program as an expert, explained why hydrogen peroxide on fresh wounds is harmful instead of helping.

In the program, the paramedic stressed that hydrogen peroxide only serves its purpose in the event of serious injuries. In addition, the fact that pouring it on the knee or a cut finger pinches us should give us food for thought, because it does not mean anything good.

– What it pinches means it irritates. And if it irritates, it means that it is harmful, not helping. Hydrogen peroxide, spirit, gentian, iodine are all preparations that have disinfecting properties. I agree with it one hundred percent. But they are absolutely not suitable for a fresh wound, because they hinder healing – emphasized Ariel Szczotok, paramedic.

In order to facilitate the healing of the wound, it can be spread with betulin calendula for skin problems, which you can buy at a favorable price at Medonet Market.

The expert noted that hydrogen peroxide is a specific recommended by both him and all medics, which should be in the home medicine cabinet, because it works perfectly on wounds that are difficult to heal, are infected, ooze and when pus appears there. However, the specialist emphasized that we must remember one more important thing, taking such a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, we should check how much time it is valid from opening. Usually it is 7-14 days, and then it should be thrown away.

If hydrogen peroxide and spirit are not good for decontaminating “normal” injuries, the paramedic advises fresh wounds that do not require suturing, rinse under running water. Additionally, you can use gray soap without additives, especially fragrances. Then the wound should be dried with a clean cotton cloth or ordinary gauze.

In order to decontaminate the wound, you can also use special preparations available on Medonet Market. We recommend, for example, Microdacyn Wound Care – a preparation for disinfecting wounds. Then, it is worth applying an appropriate wound healing preparation, eg Sofargen gel on postoperative wounds and other skin irritations.

Do you have skin problems and are you looking for the right body care product? Try propolis balm with honey and beeswax designed for problem skin.

It is also important to use disposable latex gloves when treating any injuries. Which reduces the contamination of the wound with microorganisms that accumulate on our hands. Unfortunately, we often forget about it.

The expert recommends using a pressure dressing when the wound is bleeding heavily, but does not require suturing. He also advises to be careful and not to use a lot of force when compressing head injuries, as this may lead to the formation of a large hematoma.

  1. You can buy Aquacel Extra Ag + ConvaTec silver wound dressing today at Medonet Market.

The rescuer also gives tips on what to do with the wound, for which we are not sure if it requires surgical intervention. It is mostly this type of injury that is deep and exposes internal tissues. Then you have to report to the emergency room.

When we plan to use the help of a specialist, we should not disinfect or dress the wounds on our own. It is important to secure it during transport to the hospital – emphasized the expert. The expert also warns against “sucking” wounds, which many people do almost unwittingly, especially in the case of minor cuts on the fingers.

To accelerate wound healing, order L-Mesitran Gel Soft Honey Wound Ointment, which has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory properties. We also recommend GranuSept Wound Hydrogel, which cleans and moisturizes the wound, accelerating its healing.
