Many times, we think that the gastronomic culture of a country is based solely on food and we tend to forget about traditional drinks.
There are many countries around the world which have within their gastronomy a wide variety of dishes and drinks that are little known.
But drinks are also an important piece of the culture of a country, since they are a part of identity of the society that shows us their tastes, customs and interests.
Germany, France and Mexico: discover their drinks!
In this article, we talk about some of the most iconic drinks, but not so well known in some countries, so let yourself be surprised with our proposals!
- Germany: We all know beer as the quintessential drink of this country. Its wide variety of both wheat, hops and malt are highly known around the world. However, there are other alcoholic beverages tradicionales Germans that are less known abroad, but very common domestically.
One of the most traditional is the Mulled wine. What is? This drink is served hot and consists of a mixture of red wine, spices and sugar. We can find it in all the towns of Germany during the Christmas season, especially in the famous Christmas markets of this country.
- France: Despite being a country well known for its famous wine production, There is another very common drink among the French which we could find at any family gathering in this country. We discussed the Crème de Cassis, this drink is a blackcurrant liqueur that is ideal as an aperitif in French homes. But, instead of being drunk alone, a very famous cocktail called Kir which is made by combining the Crème de Cassis with a dose of white wine. Delicious!

- Mexico: Although we all know the famous tequila very well, there is another very similar variety that is becoming more and more common in this country.
This drink is the Mezcal, a distillate of agave, like tequila. However, this liquid is produced in the Oaxaca area, a region in the southwest of the Mexican territory.
It is characterized by having a dead worm called maguey worm inside the bottle, and it is believed that the worm gives it a touch of special flavor.

- Bosnia y Herzegovina: We moved to the Balkan area. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, we can also find a very typical drink among its inhabitants and with a percentage of alcohol that reaches up to 40%.
