Good news for people struggling with diabetes. Recent studies have shown that making 10. steps a day can help them regulate blood sugar levels. This, in turn, affects your overall health. How does walking affect the health of diabetics?

Researchers from the University of Seville studied American adults with prediabetes and diabetes. They used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted by the CDC in 2005-2006. They recently published their results in the magazine “Diabetes Care”.

1194 of the adults surveyed had pre-diabetes. More than half of them (56%) are men. Their average age was 55. They performed on average 8,5 thousand. steps a day. On the other hand, 493 of the surveyed people suffered from diabetes. Also more than half of them were men (51%). Their average age was 61 years. People in the study wore an accelerometer on their waist. He was to count their steps for seven consecutive days. The researchers took into account the subjects’ age, gender, ethnicity, whether they smoke or drink alcohol, as well as their diet and medications.

200 people with prediabetes and 138 with diabetes have died in nine years. This allowed the researchers to draw some conclusions. According to them, the survivors owe it, among other things, to the fact that they did almost 10. steps a day. According to Spanish scientists, this is the best way to reduce the risk of death in people who are struggling with diabetes or prediabetes.

It is also worth noting that over 20 percent. of respondents was removed from the analysis. This was due to incorrect accelerometric data.

How to start doing 10 steps a day?
