Tiredness, overwork, stress, lack of sleep… all these become the reason why we reach for energy drinks. Although they cause a temporary spike in energy, unfortunately they are not healthy products – large amounts of sugar and chemical enhancers added to them can threaten health in the long run. Replace artificial energy with natural ones that will restore the freshness of the mind, improve memory and concentration, stimulate, and at the same time will not cause undesirable effects.
One of the most widely known and easily available “energy drinks” is green tea. It contains not only valuable antioxidants that counteract the aging of the body and protect against cancer, but also theine. It works slower than the caffeine contained in coffee, but it has a much longer effect. So it will stimulate you for a long time and at the same time add health.
Green tea also contains micronutrients that are important for the body:
- Iron,
- Fluor,
- Zinc.
What’s more, it does not irritate the stomach, and the theine contained in it, i.e. a stimulant, means that you should not consume more than three to four cups a day.
The energy contained in food. Taurine and carnitine
Taurine is an organic chemical compound belonging to the group of amino acids, which is produced in the brain, intestines, liver and skeletal muscles. It is important for the body because it contributes to building muscles (transports creatine), causing their more efficient work and regeneration. At the same time, it inhibits muscle breakdown, cleanses the body of toxins, protects the retina, supports metabolism, and strengthens the heart.
Taurine is mainly found in:
- meats,
- fish,
- lentils,
- peas,
- oysters,
- Whey.
Another body booster that will stimulate action is carnitine. It supports the production of energy from fats, regeneration after physical exercise, strengthens endurance, provides energy to immune cells and the heart. In its natural form, it is found in the largest amounts in beef and pork, and in smaller amounts in poultry. Carnitine deficiency is mainly noted in vegetarians and people suffering from kidney disease.
The root of life. Ginseng
Next on the list is ginseng, which has been used in Chinese medicine for centuries. To consume it in its natural form, you can prepare an infusion of one teaspoon of dried root and boiling water, brew the whole thing for 5 minutes. It perfectly improves mental performance, concentration, physical condition and immunity. It provides the effect of immediate stimulation, mainly thanks to substances that stimulate oxygen transport, and thus oxygenate all organs in our body.
