Do not rashly: 6 important points to consider when visiting a beautician
Be sure to check with your doctor about these things.
Going to beauty procedures, always keep in mind a number of points that are extremely important to ask a beautician in the office. This will help you avoid sad stories about wasted money, spoiled nerves and ruined health. What exactly you need to pay attention to, we were told by the dermatologist Anna Dal.
1. Doctor’s diploma and experience
Choosing the right beautician in the realities of today is not an easy task. Firstly, a cosmetologist must work in a medical clinic, the clinic must be licensed to carry out medical activities. Earlier, when a patient got to the clinic, he understood that there was no doubt a doctor was working there. Now this fact still needs to be verified. The patient can and should be interested in the doctor’s education, and it is not necessary to ask these questions personally to the doctor, this can be done through the clinic administrator. A cosmetologist who is entitled to perform all procedures must have a diploma of graduation from a higher medical institution and a certificate of a cosmetologist. In addition to education, do not forget to inquire about work experience. Remember that a doctor’s education is very important, but experience is invaluable. Experience comes from long-term work that usually takes years. Only then will the doctor be able to anticipate the results of the procedure, adverse events and complications, and also know how to deal with them.
2. Cleanliness and attentiveness
You can learn a lot about a beautician by examining his office. There must be perfect cleanliness, there must be disinfectants, a device for air disinfection. We also pay attention to the doctor’s appearance and how he conducts the consultation. The initial consultation usually takes at least 30 minutes. During this time, the doctor must collect anamnesis, find out if you have done any procedures and, if so, which ones. If, without speaking too much, he already prescribes a treatment plan, I would think – is it worth trusting him with your beauty and health?
3. Contraindications and side effects
The beautician is obliged to tell you about contraindications and possible side effects from a particular procedure. Contraindications may be different, but there are common for everyone: pregnancy, lactation, high body temperature, acute respiratory viral infections, acute respiratory infections, chronic diseases in the stage of exacerbation and cancer. Also, a contraindication to carrying out manipulations is damage to the skin at the injection site or at the site of the procedure, as well as skin diseases in the area of the procedure. Age is not an absolute contraindication, but procedures such as, for example, collagen stimulation, over the age of 55 are considered ineffective.
4. Security
During a particular procedure, something can go wrong. This is especially true for invasive procedures. There are many undesirable phenomena and complications, and even such formidable ones as ischemia and anaphylactic shock. The patient does not need to prepare for such complications; the doctor must be ready for them. A good and experienced doctor knows how to anticipate complications, so he always has drugs at the ready, with which he will provide first aid. Any clinic should have a first-aid kit “Antishock” and “Antispid”, and the doctor, of course, should know how to use it. Before carrying out procedures with infiltration anesthesia, the patient also signs an information agreement, which contains all possible complications, unwanted and side effects.
5. Preparations
Preparations, even with the same active ingredient, can vary significantly in price. Korean and Chinese are considered more frugal; French, German and Swiss are more expensive. And they differ among themselves not only in the degree of purification, which reduces the likelihood of allergic reactions, but also in the duration of the effect: in expensive ones, it is longer. The drug box, like the syringe box, must be opened immediately in front of the patient. Each package with a syringe must contain a certificate – a document for the drug, which indicates the series, lot and its expiration date. You also have every right to ask for a document for a drug – it must be a registration certificate of the Russian Federation.
6. Documents to be signed
If you like the clinic and the doctor, you should read the informational consent, which, if something happens, will protect your interests. Without it, it will be very difficult to prove exactly which procedures were performed for you. Information consent must be signed before carrying out any procedure. In it, you can also get acquainted with the side effects of the procedure, with contraindications, recommendations for skin care, as well as how long the effect lasts.
