Woman’s Day asked the founder of Genere Mio salon Roman Sedlovsky how to prevent the effect of electrified hair in the off-season.
Due to contact with woolen clothes and sudden changes in temperature, the hair literally cracks from static electricity. How to pacify them and what to use in the offseason?
“Slavic hair is thin and gets dirty quickly,” says Roman Sedlovsky.
After winter, hair needs gentle moisturizing – they are weakened and therefore electrified. They will not accept “heavy artillery” – nourishing masks, a round dance of sprays and leave-in care. Get your hair out of hibernation gradually.
Choosing a shampoo
– The main rule for the beginning of spring: a light shampoo with a neutral pH, on average 4.8-5.0, – continues Roman Sedlovsky, – the composition should include shea butter, maple extract, jojoba. During this period, you should not buy shampoos for volume – they additionally dry the hair, and they become more electrified.
In the off-season, there is always a temptation to properly “weight” your hair with silicone products in order to pacify them – this number will not work. They will only get dirty faster, and the problem of static electricity will not be solved.
Choosing the right oils
Hair oils are divided into three categories: transport (palm) oils deliver useful substances deep into the hair or skin, but they themselves do nothing. Superficial (muru-muru, lotus, coconut) smooth hair scales and remain on the surface of the hair, making it visually denser. They are good for the ends of the hair – they prevent splitting, but they cannot cure.
The most expensive and valuable oils are penetrating oils. They have a low molecular weight and get inside the hair. These include jojoba, olive and rose oil – and they should be used in the off-season for the length of the hair, avoiding the roots.
Five ways to remove static electricity from your hair:
1. Add a moisturizing mask to the light shampoo. It should contain proteins, peptides, amino acids. Into it (already in hand) we drip a couple of drops of pure jojoba, aloe or rose oil.
2. Moisturizing spray works wonders even on dry hair. Choose the finest spray so as not to spoil the styling, and “comb through” the hair sprayed with it not with a comb, but with your fingers.
3. Use a natural bristle brush. Expensive? An alternative would be a carbon or silicone brush.
4. In the off-season, spray a clean comb with antistatic agent. Wait until it dries completely and only then comb your hair.
5. Minimize the use of iron and tongs, and use the hair dryer at the lowest speed and temperature.
