Habitually turning on the dishwasher, do you see that it does not start? We will tell you what to do in such a situation. Before calling the master, you need to understand the cause of the breakdown.
You may be able to repair AEG dishwashers yourself. Let’s consider the main malfunctions and ways to eliminate them.
AEG dishwasher error codes are collected and described in detail in a separate article.
Causes of breakdowns of the AEG dishwasher
Find the cause of the malfunction will help its symptoms. If you started the machine and an error code is displayed on the display, try resetting the settings and rebooting.
How to restart PMM “AEG”:
- Unplug the equipment from power for 15-20 minutes.
- Connect to the network, look at the scoreboard.
If the code appears on the screen again, then you need to find its value. Each code indicates a specific malfunction in the dishwasher.
If the machine does not turn on at all, does not respond to commands, the indicators do not light up, you need to check.
- Start with the outlet where the PMM is connected.
- Connect another device to it to check if it works.
- Inspect the power cord for damage. If the insulation is broken, the power cord must be completely replaced.
- Diagnose the power button. Check the integrity of her contacts.
- Lastly, the control module and fuses are checked. As a result of a short circuit, the fuses could burn out. It is necessary to repair the module – it is better to entrust this work to the master.
Common problems in the AEG dishwasher:
- Why is the machine not taking on water? The reason may be a blockage in the inlet hose of the filter or valve. Damage to the inlet valve is not ruled out.
- No heating. The heating element (TEH) is defective. It is also possible that the thermostat, which measures the temperature when heated, is broken. The contacts may have broken due to a short circuit.
- Dishwasher doesn’t clean dishes well. This happens due to clogged nozzles on the sprinkler, it can affect the lack of water heating.
Next, let’s start troubleshooting.
How to repair a dishwasher with your own hands
There are such malfunctions as blockage – any hostess can eliminate it. But there are also breakdowns that require serious repairs.
Problems with the drain and circulation pump
How to understand that the problem is in the pump? Pay attention to these signs:
- the noise of the engine is heard, but the water does not leave the tank;
- before draining the water, the machine stops working;
- the display shows error I
Let’s start with the simplest reasons why the dishwasher does not drain the water. It could be a blockage in the drain system. Inspection and cleaning:
- Drain filter. To get it, unplug the machine from the mains, turn off the water supply. Open the door and remove all baskets and trays from the tank. Pull out the filter at the bottom of the PMM, rinse the part under running water.
- Pump impellers. It is behind the filter. Remove water from the hole with a sponge, remove the pump cover. Put on gloves and inspect the impeller. Most often, the impeller becomes clogged with food debris and glass fragments, which blocks the operation of the pump.
- Drain hose. Disconnect the hose from the PMM and check for blockage. It could also clog the drain. For cleaning, use special products.
Was the drain system cleaned, but the water is not draining? Then the diagnosis and replacement of the circulation pump is carried out. Below is a step by step guide to replacing the pump. Before repair, look at the PMM instructions.
- Prepare the dishwasher as described above.
- Flip the hull over to access the bottom.
- If the bottom is covered by a panel, unscrew the screws that secure it.
- Disconnect the drain pump by unscrewing the fastening screw.
- Disconnect the circulation pump wiring.
- Opening the clamps, disconnect the hoses that are attached to the pump.
- Press out the metal latch.
To replace, move the latch from the defective part to a new one. Carry out the installation in reverse order.
Problems in the filling system
When water is not poured into the tank for a long time, the dishes are poorly washed – a blockage in the system is likely. First of all, you need to check:
- is there water in the system;
- is there enough pressure for normal washing of dishes;
- check valve is fully open.
Then inspect the filling system:
- Disconnect the inlet hose from the PMM body.
- Check it for blockage.
- Take out the mesh filter. Clean it up.
- Inspect the fill valve for clogging.
- The valve coils are called with a multimeter.
How to check:
- Take your multimeter and set it to ohmmeter mode.
- Attach the probes of the device to the valve contacts.
- The part is in good condition when the display shows from 500 to 1500 ohms.
- There is no indication on the display – it means that the coil is faulty. The valve needs to be replaced.
Heating element failure
Diagnostics of the heating system is carried out, the wiring is inspected. In case of burnt parts, the entire wiring harness must be replaced. If the heating element breaks down, a new element is installed:
- Turn the dishwasher “on its back” – the flow heater is attached to the pump.
- Disconnect the heater contacts.
- Loosen the fixing screws.
- Taking the heating element out of the PMM housing, install a new serviceable element.
If the thermostat malfunctions, you can repair it yourself:
- Pull the circulation pump out of the machine body – how to do this is described above.
- A thermostat is attached to the pump assembly housing.
- Remove the cover from it.
- Disconnect the wiring from the sensor.
- Loosen the fastening screw.
- Pull the sensor out of the socket.
- Before installing a new part, put on the sealing rubber and insert into the socket.
Injector problems
The nozzles on the sprinkler can also become clogged. If this happens, remove the sprinkler from the body and clean the holes with a toothpick.
Now you know what to do if the AEG dishwasher does not work. Do not delay the repair, then it will be possible to avoid serious malfunctions.
