Dmitry Peskov on a possible second wave of the epidemic in the country

The Russians are eagerly awaiting the end of the quarantine. But if you believe the words of the press secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, it is too early to talk about lifting the restrictive measures.

Recently, Vladimir Putin said that from the second half of May, Russia should begin a gradual exit from quarantine. The speedy lifting of restrictions applies only to those regions where there is a noticeable decrease in cases of COVID-19 infection.

Some regions – for example, Moscow and the Moscow region – are still struggling with a large number of new cases of the disease.

Last Wednesday, the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov gave an extensive interview to the RTVI TV channel. In it, he spoke about the country’s future prospects during the pandemic.

Peskov believes that it is too early to talk about lifting the restrictive measures. If you rush on this issue, you can only aggravate the situation.

“The risk is very high – resumption of the second wave, you can call it whatever you like. First of all, this is a risk to people’s health, to the economy, ”explained Dmitry Sergeevich.

The spokesman clarified that, most likely, all restrictive measures will be lifted in stages, with the agreement of experts.

Peskov recalled that it was thanks to the strictest self-isolation regime that Russia managed to avoid the “Italian scenario” of the epidemic. The politician noted that already now “one can timidly hope” that the country has finally reached a plateau in terms of morbidity. However, the May holidays can change a lot, so we all need to be careful about safety.
