Ways and means of getting rid of excess hair can not be counted. No desire to waste time looking for a suitable salon to do hair removal? We offer you to prepare shugaring paste at home. Everything is much easier than it seems.
Benefits of depilation with sugar paste
Sugaring is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to remove hair not only on the shins, arms, but also in the bikini area, armpits and even on the face using a special natural composition that includes sugar, lemon juice and water. Sometimes honey and essential oils are added to nourish the skin and make it even softer.
During the procedure, the paste is applied to the skin with a spatula or hands against hair growth, and after hardening, it is torn off in the direction of hair growth. As a result, the body immediately becomes smooth and pleasant to the touch.
A legitimate question – is it not the same effect after a razor or an epilator? The one, but not really. We list all the advantages of sugar paste for depilation at home:
Ease of preparation: sugaring paste is made from available ingredients: sugar, honey, lemon juice and water.
Naturalness: homemade shugaring paste consists exclusively of natural ingredients that can be found in every kitchen.
Efficiency: after applying the paste for shugaring with your own hands, the hair begins to grow back in an average of 15-20 days.
No risk of ingrown hairs: during the procedure, the hairs do not break off, because they are removed in the direction of growth, which means that the risk of ingrown hairs is reduced to zero.
After shugaring, there is no need to wash off the remaining paste from the skin with special oil or cosmetic solvent. Plain water is enough.
With regular (every 21-25 days) repetition of the procedure, the hairs gradually become thinner, their growth slows down.
The skin after sugar depilation looks even and smooth.
The only negative that experts warn about is possible irritation and redness immediately after the procedure, as well as dry skin. The first usually disappears within an hour, and the second symptom can be managed by regularly using moisturizers for the body after a shower.
Sugaring paste: ready-made or homemade?
For beginners in shugaring, the question is always relevant, which pasta to prefer – ready-made or cooked by yourself?
It is up to you to decide whether you are ready to be puzzled by the search for a recipe and the preparation of sugaring paste at home, because this requires some skill. But why not try?
Pros of homemade pasta
You know exactly what ingredients you are using.
You can carry out the procedure whenever you want.
Residues of the sweet mixture are easily removed with water.
The ability to conjure in the kitchen is also an important point.
But there are downsides, and they should be taken into account.
Beginners are unlikely to be able to determine the first time what kind of paste density is needed for a particular part of the body. Hence the low efficiency, and sometimes traumatization of the skin. The necessary knowledge comes with experience.
From the first time, when there is no experience of self-shugaring, you can injure the skin by incorrectly removing the frozen caramel.
Not effective on very short hair, they must be grown at least 0,5 cm.
A completely different thing is ready-made pasta, which can be purchased at the store! It is suitable for those who do not want to spend time looking for ingredients and want to be completely confident in the product they are using.
The advantages of this are obvious, among them:
testing for safety and efficacy.
tightness of the package.
ease of heating and application.
the ability to choose a paste by density (soft, medium or dense) – it all depends on the treated area and the properties of the hair (thin, soft, hard). You can read more about the density of the paste here.
Let’s move on to the cons.
Ready-made pastes may contain fructose, preservatives and fragrances. Not all of them are well tolerated.
The price of professional pasta is higher than homemade.
Add here all the disadvantages of homemade pasta listed above.
We in the editorial office believe that if you are not a pro, then it is better to entrust the first procedures to a professional and go to the salon.
How to make sugaring paste at home?
So you’ve decided to make your own sugaring paste, but how?
To cook sugaring paste yourself, you will need a saucepan or any saucepan and a glass. If you cook a lot of pasta at once, then prepare an airtight container into which you can pour the sweet mass. It is better if the tray is suitable for the microwave (to further melt the pasta prepared in advance).
To achieve a certain density and consistency of the paste, you will need to observe the exact ratio of products. This should definitely be taken into account when compiling a recipe, we will discuss this in more detail below.
There are enough recipes for a mixture for making shugaring at home on the net. Below are some of the most popular.
Sugaring Paste Recipes
So, we tell you how to make pasta for shugaring at home, and give several options for pasta recipes.
With lemon juice
To begin with, we will tell you how to make sugaring paste at home with lemon. This is one of the most popular and simple recipes.
Pour into a saucepan 10 tbsp. l. sugar, add 4 tbsp. l. water at room temperature and squeeze the juice of half a large lemon (should be 3 tablespoons). Put on low heat and stir the mixture. When the sugar dissolves, the mixture will become clear. Cover the pot with a lid and continue to cook, stirring occasionally. The mixture should turn light brown. As soon as bubbles appear, turn off the heat and cover the pot with a lid. When the bubbles subside, pour the mixture into another container and cool, periodically checking the paste for plasticity. Properly prepared pasta does not stick to your hands and kneads well, like plasticine. As you can see, cooking sugaring paste is quite simple. Everything should take no more than 10 minutes.
With citric acid
Now we will tell you how to prepare a paste for shugaring with citric acid. Here, too, there are no difficulties. Pour into a saucepan 20 tbsp. l. Sahara. Add 8 tbsp. l. warm water. Bring to a boil over low heat, stirring constantly. When it boils, add 0,5 tbsp. l. citric acid and cook until the sugar darkens. Pour the finished pasta into a container and cool to room temperature. If the paste seems to be too thick, add another tablespoon of water.
The darker the sugar, the denser it is. If you have warm hands, then such a paste in them will warm up well. If you usually have cold hands, make the paste lighter, it will be softer.
With vinegar
The composition of shugaring paste at home can be different. The main thing is to have sugar on hand. And lemon or citric acid can be replaced with apple cider vinegar.
Put in a bucket 8 tbsp. l. sugar and 1 tbsp. l. water, bring to a boil over low heat and add 1 tbsp. l. apple cider vinegar. Simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring constantly until light brown. Pour the resulting mixture into a container and let it cool. Form a ball, the mixture should be very plastic.
With honey
Some people prefer to mix sugar for sugaring at home with honey (of course, if you are not allergic to it). Replacing sugar with honey will not work, but it is quite possible to combine them. This recipe is specifically for the microwave. It takes only a few minutes to prepare the sugaring mixture.
Place a cup of sugar, a quarter cup of honey, and a quarter cup of fresh lemon juice in a microwaveable container. Stir and put in the microwave at maximum power for 10-15 seconds. Remove, stir again, let the bubbles settle. Repeat several times (approximately 3-4 sets). Let the mixture cool and try to form a ball. If it does not stick to your hands, then everything worked out.
How to store sugaring paste
Properly prepared sugar paste is stored for a long time. It is enough to place it in an airtight container that is suitable for use in the microwave.
It is better to store it in the refrigerator.
Before the next use, it is recommended to heat the remaining paste in the microwave, let it cool and roll it into a soft, dense ball again.
