DIY mastic flowers, video
You can decorate the cake so that it becomes the main gift, the highlight of the celebration, aroused envy and tears of affection. It is enough to lay out flowers made of pastry mastic on top.
There are several varieties of delicious “plasticine”:
- Gelatinous mastic, you can replace the main ingredient with marshmallows.
- Honey. In addition to a special aroma, it is distinguished by its ability not to crumble.
- Confectionery. A multi-colored dense mass will help even novice confectioners create their first masterpieces.
Important! Children under 3 or even 7 years old should not use mastic. It is difficult for a child’s body to digest. If the child eats one “rose” of his mother’s production, nothing. But delicious and beautiful sweets make kids want to eat them uncontrollably. The attention of parents in this matter will not hurt.
How to make a rose from mastic
Only in nature, flowers are born simply and uncomplicated; for the manufacture of confectionery plants, you will have to acquire an arsenal of tools. The process in terms of complexity does not exceed the skill of the middle school students (for beginners).
- Roll out the mastic in a layer, cut out 7-9 even identical circles from it. They are rolled out again and the upper parts of the future petals are pressed down.
- You can put a cone on a toothpick and press it in – this is the basis for a flower. Then the petals are attached in a spiral. In each (with the other toothpick), the edge is bent outward.
- At the end, a small ball is made of green mastic, rolled out, a green petal in the form of a star is cut out and applied to the base of the rose.
To make the mastic more pliable, it is heated. Fix the details by wetting the brushes in water. And if the petals stick to your hands, powdered sugar will come to the rescue.
If you like the lesson, you can buy special molds, brushes, modeling sticks.
Flowers from mastic: mastic secrets
They are assembled in an elementary way, videos of cooking are available on the Internet. You can make your own material for the future confectionery “garden”. You will need gelatin, sugar, water.
- Soak 2 teaspoons of gelatin in cold water, it swells.
- In a water bath, heat gelatin (or 200 g of any marshmallow) until the consistency changes (until it begins to thicken).
- Carefully add 0,5 kg of powdered sugar to the pan.
- The resulting mass is collected in a lump and sent to a cold place, wrapping the “kolobok” in cellophane.
It is useful to know that you can add flavors to mastic, beetroot, grape juices (they dilute gelatin instead of water), food colors give color.
Flowers can be cut not only from the petals to be collected, but also using stencils. Volumetricness is achieved due to the imposition of parts on top of each other.
And whatever the flowers from the confectionery “plasticine” are – they are unique, divine, because the warmth of the hands put into them cannot be replaced with anything. The rest is little things.
