- To decorate the pillowcase, cut out 60 circles with a diameter of 7 cm.
- Roset each circle and secure in the center with a stitch.
- Starting at one end of the front piece of the pillowcase, sew the rosettes tightly, one by one, by hand.
- Continue attaching the rosettes to create a tight, wide row in the center. Make sure that this decorative strip is flat, with the same indentation at both ends.
Sew the back shelf of the pillow in two pieces, stitch it from the front shelf (in one of the ways described below) and insert the pillow into the resulting pillowcase.
This is the easiest and fastest way to make a pillowcase. The front and back shelves are cut out the same (27 x 47 cm). After decorating the front shelf with rosettes, both parts are folded with the front sides inward and sewn on three sides (with an indent of 1 cm). After that, the pillowcase is turned inside out, a pillow is inserted into it and the pillowcase is sewn up manually with a blind seam. The disadvantage of this option: to wash the pillowcase, you will have to rip it open along one edge, and then sew it again.
- Zippered pillowcase
Zippered pillowcase
Although this option requires some skill, it is not difficult and much more practical: after all, the zipper makes it easy to remove the pillowcase when needed. The back shelf consists of two transverse parts, between which a fastener is sewn.
- Cut out for the back shelf part: 14,5 x 47 cm and 15,5 x 47 cm.Outdoors: 1 cm from the outside, from the zipper side: 2 cm on one shelf, 3 cm on the other.Fold the edge on the larger part (along the future zipper) by 2 cm and iron it.
- Sew the zipper to the folded edge of the larger piece, 1 cm in between.
- Sew the other piece of the zipper to the inside edge of the other piece of the back shelf.
- Trim the front zipper so that it is hidden behind the folds of the fabric.
With the zipper closed, sweep and then sew the two front sides together. Edge distance: 1 cm. Cut off the edges as shown on the previous page. Turn the pillowcase out and insert the pillow into it. Done!
