DIY Christmas tree: ideas from “Home”
Stylists of the magazine “Home” offer a creative approach to the main New Year’s symbol – and make a Christmas tree with your own hands from improvised means.
Tree sticks
Even a young artist can sketch such a tree – just give him a colored pencil and a sheet of paper. Well, to bring the drawing to life, the kid will need your help. So:
For work we need: twigs, white wicker basket, white acrylic paint, rope or satin ribbon, garden shears, paintbrush.
DIY Christmas tree
- The “trunk” – a rod of impressive length and thickness – is laid on a horizontal surface, after which the “tree” is assembled. The rods are fastened together with a rope or tape. Two thick rods are threaded into the handles of a wicker basket.
- The tree is installed so that its trunk is securely fixed between two parallel guides. Then, using acrylic paint and a brush, the “wood” is tinted white. It remains to hang the balls and a garland. The work is over.

Itinerant holiday
But what if you combine a tree and a screen? First, the problem of New Year’s decoration will be solved … Secondly, it will be possible to manipulate the space, changing the environment in the room at will.
For work you will need: thin chipboard, planed board, jigsaw, acrylic primer, white and light blue acrylic paint in a spray gun, brush, four wheels, screwdriver, hot glue gun, decorative paper tape, glass candlesticks, postcards.
- A Christmas tree with a height of 1,5 m and a width of 1 m is cut out from a thin chipboard, and a stand 0,4 m long, 0,1 m high and 0,2 m wide is cut from a planed board. Both blanks are primed, after which the stand is covered with white paint from spray can. To make the paint thicker, it is applied in two layers. Then four wheels are screwed to the stand. The blank of the Christmas tree is tinted on both sides in a light blue color, carefully spraying paint from a spray can. When the first layer dries, the second is applied. This will make the color more saturated.
- The tree is arbitrarily decorated with a decorative paper ribbon. The glue is only needed to fix the ends of the improvised “garland”.
- Hot glue is applied to the candlestick. Then the latter is applied to the tree and held for five minutes. The Christmas tree is decorated with postcards. The work has been completed.
