office tea party

I hasten to share my joy and success: today I held the first Distance meetings with the staff of our office.

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Summary of previous episodes:

1. The task of the management is to increase the efficiency of the work of employees. In particular: reduce the time for information transfer and speed up interaction.

2. Written term paper “Effective interaction. 1 lap Distance for employees of a cosmetic company.

3. Conducted 2 classes for 3 hours with an interval of 1 week. The total number of participants is 22 people.

4. Launched 8 exercises:

— After the first lesson: «Remove NO-ki», «Mistake!», «Problem-Task», «We do not play the Victim.»

— After the second lesson: «Royal posture», «Repeat verbatim», «Speak in theses» and «Healthy sleep» optional, as a recommendation.

— Optional: constructive criticism «Plus-minus-plus», «Prepared question», «Format of asking for help»

5. Printouts of the presentation with the main theses are printed out and posted in the office.

6. Everyone squats.

Continuation of work — meetings at a Distance. We temporarily call them “Office tea parties”. I will set the creative task to come up with a “delicious name” a little later.

Meeting format: tea for 30 minutes for 7-10 people (3 groups). We plan to meet like this once every 1 weeks.

Purpose: to share the successes and findings of the exercises.

Regulations:

  • 2 minutes for each
  • 5 minutes — general conclusions
  • 5 minutes — for this and that (sat down, poured tea, laughed, etc.)

Our tea parties are much shorter than the meetings that are held at UPP. This reduction in time is due to the workflow. Allocate more time — take employees away from work tasks. Therefore, they worked in the regime of strict regulations.

Surprisingly, in the first group there was enough time for everyone, and in the second group they were delayed for 15 minutes. This is a lot, given the declared 30. However, I consider the result successful!

  • Sharing success is not so easy. Those who spoke first tried to start talking about what is wrong and what does not work. I stopped them and asked them to tell about what happened. As a result, from about the third speaker, the process has already gone as it should.
  • So far, there have been no «chips» and findings that can be shared. At the same time, at the initial stage, the very fact that the participants shared their observations and experiences is important.
  • Even with the reduced regulations, there is a positive and improved relationship in the team.

Tasks for the next 2 weeks:

  • We remove «NO». Mode: one said, everyone squats.
  • Royal posture — everyone takes care of himself and helps others.
  • We don’t play Victim. We don’t play and that’s it.
  • There are no problems. There are only Tasks.
  • We repeat verbatim after the interlocutor, connecting the wording «I heard what you said …»
  • Prepared question: written assignment.
  • Abstracts: two types of written assignments — analysis of the text and drawing up your abstracts.
