Dishwasher weight – how to choose a model

The weight of the dishwasher worries buyers not so. Information about the weight and dimensions allows you to decide whether it is worth delivering and integrating the dishwasher into the kitchen set yourself. We will understand in the review what the weight of the PMM depends on, how to choose a technique based on this parameter.

What affects the mass of PMM

There are not many factors that affect the weight of the dishwasher. To determine them, you will have to understand how the technology works. in detail technical characteristics of dishwashers we considered in a separate review. Now we will focus only on those parameters on which the mass of the machine depends.

The main volume of the PMM is occupied by the dishwasher hopper, in which the dishes are stored. The pump (circulation pump), together with other nodes, is located in the bottom. It is difficult to name the weight of each of the parts – it all depends on the brand and each particular model.

On average, the weight of a pallet is between 8 and 12 kg. The case together with trays for ware and a yoke in the sum weigh up to 10 kg. Another 3 kg is allocated to the mass of the door. All together will amount to a maximum of 25 kg. At the same time, models of 40 and even 50 kg are found on the market. Where does the manufacturer get another 20-30 kg from? Everything that makes the structure heavier is still located exclusively inside the PMM case.

As in the design of the washing machine, the dishwasher has counterweights that are installed for stabilization – they dampen vibrations during operation and increase the stability of the device. The configuration and mass of the counterweight depends on the size of the body. The larger the machine, the wider and heavier the stones (and the counterweights are really concrete blocks).

Drying also affects the total weight of the machine. Models equipped with a condensing type of drying are lighter, and with a turbo dryer they are somewhat heavier. This is explained by the fact that drying “turbo” requires the installation of another engine, heater and fan. Heat Exchanger, decorative panels in freestanding cars or models with partial embedding can also play a role.

Fact! As a rule, stationary non-embedded PMMs are the heaviest. This is due to the double hull and additional internal thermal insulation. Therefore, similar built-in devices weigh 1-1,5 kg less.

Weight of standard dishwashers

Before moving on to an overview of specific models and their weight characteristics, let’s figure out what a full-size dishwasher is. A machine with dimensions of 60x60x85 cm (width, depth and height, respectively) is considered standard. Classic PMM with the possibility of full embedding have slightly different parameters: only the width is static – 60 cm, and the depth and height parameters can vary. You can find full-size built-in machines with a depth of 55, 57 and 60 cm, a height of 80, 81,5 and 82 cm.

Consider examples of popular cars, dividing them by brand:

Gorenje

G 6900 SCi64
G 4203 SCi Active BRUSH46,2
SiemensSN 678X50 TR47
SN 578S00 TR47
SN 66M09443

As you can see, the lightest full-size PMMs are from Bosch and Electrolux. The heaviest ones are from Mile and Siemens. This can be explained by the fact that the last two manufacturers produce cars mainly of the “Premium” class, in which there are more details and “bells and whistles”, hence the impressive parameters.

Important! Experts say that the lighter a full-size PMM with a width of 60 cm, the higher its noise. For example, the noise level of the light Gorenje GV 63311 (35 kg) is 47 dB, while the Miele G 6900 SCi (64 kg) is much quieter – 41 dB. The lighter the machine, the less it has a counterweight that dampens vibrations.

It is quite fair to point out the fact that the relatively light “Electrolux” operate with a low noise level. So, ESF9862ROX (45 kg) works at 46 dB. These machines are able to absorb centrifugal force without a heavy counterweight – it’s all about the thoughtful arrangement of parts inside the body. The engine is built in such a way that vibrations are minimal, so stability with a modest weight is quite real.

So, choosing a full-size version, it is not necessary to buy the heaviest machine. It is more practical and reasonable when low weight is combined with quiet operation – carefully study the technical documentation, and you will be able to acquire the optimal PMM in all respects.

Weight of narrow and compact dishwashers

We figured out the mass of the built-in full-size dishwasher. Now we invite you to find out how much a narrow PMM weighs. Also in this part of the review, we will consider the mass of a standard desktop PMM. Both types of dishwashers are small in size, so the selection should be made based on which one you are interested in: floor or desktop.

In most cases, a 45 cm wide dishwasher weighs 5-7 kg less than a similar full-size one. The exact data for narrow cars are shown in the table below:

MarkModelWeight, kg)

Bosch

SuperSilence SPS53M52RU41
SPS 40E5840
SPV 40E0026
SPV 40E4030
SiemensSR 24E20240
SR 25E23045
SR65M08335
ElectroluxESL 94200 LO30,2
ESF 9451 ROX36,7
ESF 9423 LMW37,2

Experts are convinced that for optimal body stability of a narrow car, with its height of 85 cm and width of 45 cm, you need to have a weight of at least 40-45 kg. Be that as it may, lighter PMMs have a less stable design.

Important! Siemens SR 25E230 (45 kg) has a noise level of 46 dB, while the lightweight Electrolux ESL 94200 LO in operation makes noise with a power of 51 dB. User reviews only confirm the opinion of experts.

Compact PMMs also received a brief review. The average weight of a desktop (or built-in) small machine is in the range of 20-25 kg. Basically, this is the body and parts, the counterweights simply will not fit in it, although some brands do this by some miracle. In general, stability is ensured by a modest height and an impressive width.

Despite the fact that the body is made in the form of a parallelepiped, it is quite difficult to resist centrifugal force, especially if there are no counterweights. Such dishwashers can “jump” during operation and disturb with excessive vibration, respectively, and the noise in the room is hefty. Experts are sure that small cars are one of the noisiest due to the close location of the units of the unit and small dimensions.

Consider the popular offers of the market:

Brand nameModelWeight (kg)
BoschSKS 40E2220
ElectroluxESF 2400 OS21
CandyCDCP 6/E22,5
MideaMCFD-060622

Unlike full-size and narrow ones, all presented cars have a noise level of 49 to 54 dB. Considering that today you can find a full-size dishwasher with a noise level of 39-45 dB, this is an unforgivable lot. You can forget about night washing.

As you can see, PMMs do not have a standard weight, just like size – each model is unique. To find out exactly how much space the equipment will take in the kitchen and how loud it will work, in each particular case it is worth carefully studying the data sheet. Happy shopping!
