Dishwasher outlet – selection and installation

After the dishwasher has been delivered to the house, the fun begins – installation and connection. It is not enough just to connect the appliance to the network and start using it, it is important to properly organize the wiring and choose the outlet for the dishwasher. How to make a choice and install everything yourself, we will now tell.

Correct connection

A dishwasher is a powerful consumer of energy, which is dangerous to connect simultaneously with other appliances. Since the technique can work unattended, many users, having loaded the dishes, go about their business. If the PMM is connected through an extension cable or to an unprepared output, a fire may occur.

Experts recommend choosing a reliable socket with grounding and a moisture-resistant housing, since work takes place with water and electricity at the same time.

Where to install a dishwasher? Both freestanding and built-in models are recommended to be located near the sink. This will facilitate the organization of the connection to the water and drain.

If you have old aluminum wiring, you need to change everything. By distributing the current correctly, you will protect yourself and devices from unforeseen situations.

Since the PMM power cord is usually short, the height of the outlet from the floor should be 40-45 cm.

What you need to connect to the mains

First you need to select a wire. It is important that it be a three-core copper wire with insulation. If you are going to connect only one device, give preference to a wire with a cross section of 1,5 cm. If you will connect additional devices, choose a wire section of 2,5 cm.

It is recommended to pre-calculate the load on one wiring. Then, if you connect an additional device, there will be no problems.

Then you need to pick up the machine. You can choose a PMM of any brand, the main thing is to calculate the voltage that it will create. If you do not know which machine to install, see that it is single-phase and rated for 16 amperes.

You may also need a stabilizer. How to choose a dishwasher stabilizer, we told in one of the previous articles.

What socket do you need? Preferably the European type, only with a moisture-resistant case and grounding.

Now you understand what kind of wire and accessories you will need to install a built-in and freestanding dishwasher. It remains to organize everything correctly.

Installation of electrical communications

Electrical work is best left to a professional. But if you are sure that you can handle it yourself, first decide where it is better to draw a conclusion for connection. It will be correct to prepare a detailed drawing and already lay communications on it.

  • Having decided on the direction of the cable, start the installation. You can arrange it through cable channels, which is less time-consuming. You can drill a channel for the wire in the wall.
  • Organize the place and install the outlet. Connect a voltage stabilizer to it, and equipment to the stabilizer.
  • Connect via machine.

After organizing the electrical wiring, you can do the drain and plumbing. How to connect a dishwashercan be found in a separate article.

What can not be done when connecting the PMM to the network

  • It is forbidden to use carriers, tees, extension cords. Overloading may cause fire.
  • It is forbidden to use the connection point of the electric cooker for the dishwasher.
  • It is impossible to connect the PMM without a difavtomat. When overloaded, it turns off the equipment, saving electronic elements from combustion.

When the work is completed, you can perform dishwasher test run. Check if the control panel, indicators, keys work normally. Experiment with the choice of washing modes.
