Dishwasher height – how to choose

Why do you need to know the height of the dishwasher? The answer to this question is extremely simple: knowing the dimensions of the built-in dishwasher, you can order a kitchen set of certain dimensions. If we are talking about a stationary PMM, information about its height is also important for a harmonious arrangement in the kitchen space.

We decided to devote this review to such a dishwasher parameter as height, because the dimensions are not unified and may differ not by 1-2 cm, but much more. Next, we will look at the various types of dishwashers, which will facilitate your choice and further installation of appliances in the kitchen.

Tall dishwashers

All PMM from 61 to 85 cm are high. This applies to both built-in and freestanding appliances. As practice shows, models with the possibility of full embedding are a couple of cm lower than stationary ones, which can be easily explained by the absence of a top cover in the design – instead, the machine is covered with a countertop.

Often users make a total mistake, not taking into account the height of the dishwasher when buying. Taking a tall freestanding machine, you can most likely take it back to the store: there is a risk that the equipment will not fit under the countertop. This problem will not affect you if the choice falls on a model with a removable lid – but this adjustment is not provided for in all dishwashers.

In order not to get into such a situation and immediately select the required dimensions of the PMM, including taking into account the height, you need not a “lottery ticket”, but a cold calculation.

Let’s start with models whose height is 61-70 cm. Unfortunately, the home appliance market in the Russian Federation does not offer cars with the specified height. We can note only one model that was on sale earlier (perhaps you will find it in some outlets or order it from abroad). This is a German made AEG F 84980 VI.

Its difference in width is 89,7 cm (whereas the dimensions of ordinary ones in width usually range from 45 to 60 cm). The depth is 57,8 cm, and the height is only 69,8 cm. Up to 12 sets of dishes are placed in the hopper, the machine has a low noise level during operation (46 dB) and there is a turbo dryer. With such non-standard dimensions, this is a fully built-in model.

Let’s move on to models whose height is from 70 to 80 cm. There is nothing up to 75 cm in our stores, but you can find up to 80 cm. If in 2016 there were no such models on the domestic market, today they are present, though only from the German company Miele. There are not so many models, so we list them all:

• Miele G 4203 SC Active CLST. Dimensions of a stationary PMM (WxDxH): 60x60x80 cm, cost – from 49 rubles. Capacity – 900 sets, energy efficiency class – A +, noise – 14 dB, turbo-drying.
• Miele G 4263 Vi Active, fully integrated. Dimensions: 60x57x80 cm (WxDxH), price – 56 rubles. The bunker holds up to 900 sets of dishes, energy class – A +, noise level – 13 dB, “Turbo” drying.
• Miele G 4263 SCVi Active (14 sets, full embedding), 60x57x80 cm. The price from the official Miele website in Russia is 59 rubles.
• Miele G 4203 SC Active BRWS is a stationary model with similar characteristics, dimensions 60x60x80 cm (WxDxH). It costs from 39 to 900 rubles.
• Miele G 4203 SCi Active BRWS – a machine with partial integration into the headset, 80 cm high. 59 rubles.
• Miele G 4203 i Active BRWS – floor partially built-in PMM (WxDxH – 60x57x80 cm). Bunker for 13 sets, 5 modes, turbo-drying, price from 56 rubles.

Dishwashers, whose height is from 80 to 85 cm, are produced the most. Therefore, the choice will not be difficult to make – both among stationary and built-in PMMs. Examples:

• Electrolux ESL 94200 LO is a narrow dishwasher fully built into the kitchen, 45 cm wide and 82 cm high. Capacity 9 sets, all classes – A, noise level – 51 dB. The price is 17 rubles.

• Bosch SPV 40X80 is a floor-standing narrow PMM, 55 cm deep, 82 cm high. With a capacity of 9 sets similar to that of Electrolux, quieter operation is provided – 48 dB. The price is 21 rubles.

• Hansa ZWM 416 WH is a stationary narrow model 85 cm. Holds up to 9 crockery sets, energy efficiency class A++. Prices start from 14 rubles.

• Gorenje GV 51011 is a novelty in the household appliances market at an affordable price from 15 rubles. The washing tank is designed for 286 sets, energy consumption A ++, dimensions: 9×44,8×55 cm.

• BEKO DIS 15010 – you can purchase this machine for 13 rubles. Dimensions: 796x45x55 cm (WxDxH). The tank holds 82 sets, has an energy class A+.

• Indesit DSR 15B3 – a narrow freestanding dishwasher that can hold up to 10 sets, has dimensions: 45x60x85 cm (WxDxH). All classes – A, 5 programs. Price: 15 rubles.

Important! You may have noticed that the rating did not include 83 cm cars. There are such models, but they are not on sale: Hotpoint-Ariston LFS 215 AX, Midea WQP8-7310C, BEKO DSS 1311 XP and others.

Which dishwasher is the tallest

The highest cars are from 86 to 91 cm. So, models of 86 cm, as a rule, belong to the Premium class. Their price can be from 90 to 000 rubles. The parameters of such dishwashers are impressive.

Some notable examples:

• Asko D 5896 XXL is a full-size machine for 16 sets, energy efficiency class A ++, 13 programs, Turbo-drying. The cost is 139 rubles.

• Asko D 5894 XXL FI – this model can be purchased for 106 rubles. The washing tank is designed for 900 sets, 17 programs and “Turbo” drying are provided.

• Smeg STLA865A is a fully built-in machine for 13 place settings, with 5 programs and 5 temperature settings. The price is 81 rubles.

• Kuppersbusch IGS 6908.0 GE – 14 sets, all classes A, 9 programs, 7 temperature modes. Dimensions (WxDxH): 59,8x57x86 cm. Cost – 61 rubles.

Cars with a height of 87 cm are represented by the brands NEFF, Kuppersbusch, Gaggenau, Bosch, Imperial, FRANKE, Siemens. But only a few of them are on sale in the domestic market: NEFF S523I60X0R (from 66 rubles), Kuppersbusch IGVS 900 (from 6509.3 rubles), Kuppersbusch IGVS 137 (655 rubles).

Of those rare cases when the height is 91 cm, it is worth mentioning the Kuppersbusch IGS 6908.1 GE model – this is a full-size machine with the possibility of partial installation in a kitchen set, designed for 14 sets and having 9 programs and 7 temperature settings. It belongs to the middle price category – 76 rubles.

From 88 to 90 cm: the original offer from Smeg

Quite interesting models are offered in this range from the SMEG trademark. These dishwashers are unique in their design and made in retro style. All presented models belong to Premium class equipment, so their cost is around 100 rubles.

Models to watch:

• Smeg BLV2R-2. Energy efficiency class – A +++ (highest), height – 88,5 cm. Cost – 100 rubles.

• Smeg BLV2AZ-2. 15 sets, 9 programs, Turbo drying, height – 89 cm, price – 97 rubles.

• Smeg BLV2X-2. A tank for 13 sets, the highest energy class A +++, a minimum noise level of 42 dB, a height of 88,5 cm. The price of this “silver beauty” is 107 rubles.

Important! In the model range of similar PMMs from SMEG, you will find not just a multifunctional model, but also a real decoration of the interior. SMEG cars are available in bright colors: cream, orange, pink, brown, black, gray, lemon, lilac and others.

Compact dishwashers

What is the minimum and standard height of compact PMM? Such cars are most often bought by people living alone, or small families of 2-3 people. Also, this technique will be relevant in a small kitchen of 5-6 square meters. Often such electrical appliances are not even installed on the table, but under the sink. Just in the latter case, the height of the case is of great importance – after all, not only a dishwasher, but also a siphon and other communications should fit in the space under the sink.

The height of small dishwashers can vary from 40,7 to 60 cm. The lowest model (40,7 cm) is the Whirlpool ADG 1900, but its release has been suspended, either due to low demand or for other objective reasons. The rest of the models are slightly higher. For example, Flavia CI 55 HAVANA (dimensions WxDxH – 55x50x43,8 cm). Up to 6 sets are placed in the bunker, programs – 7 pieces, noise level – 52 dB. Pleased with an acceptable cost of 14 rubles.

There are a lot of models from 44 to 45 cm. They are produced under brands such as Indesit, Candy, Electrolux, Ariston, Korting or Bosch. There are much fewer cars, the body of which reaches 46-49 cm. Usually these are the products of such unpromoted brands as Mabe, Elenberg, Beltratto, Foster or Baumatic.

Higher designs (from 50 cm to 55 cm) are rare on the market. Machines such as POWERFUL PWA-2195S, NEFF S66M64N3, Ardo ME 5661 meet the specified parameters, but are not available for sale.

Fact! PMM 56-57 cm are not currently on the market – perhaps they are simply not produced even abroad.

It is worth paying attention to one non-standard dishwasher – Smeg STO905-1. It is difficult to attribute it to any type, because of the dimensions (WxDxH) 85,9x55x57,8 cm. This is the same rare model as the PMM from the Electrolux concern considered at the beginning of the review. The cost of equipment also scares off buyers a little: 100 rubles.

Among the options with a height of 60 cm, the most common are built-in structures from brands such as Bosch, Ginzzu, NEFF and Siemens. Only two offers really go on sale: these are Bosch SCE 52M55 for 45 rubles (built-in) and Ginzzu DC615 for 281 rubles (freestanding).

If you are interested in cars whose height is 30 or 65 cm, you will not find these – it simply cannot be like that due to the design features of the equipment.

Let’s sum up. The height of the dishwasher can vary from 44 to 91 cm. But, in pursuit of saving space, do not forget that a modest body is not always able to accommodate a sufficient amount of dishes. Sometimes it’s easier to take a larger model and tinker with its installation than to regret the poor performance of equipment.
