What to do if the dishwasher door does not lock? You often open the hopper, load dirty dishes every day, put in detergents. If the door began to fall, does not hold in the open position, the daily ritual turns into torment. How to find out the causes and fix problems, read below.
Why is the door broken
This is the only movable element that is constantly subjected to stress: load, reload dishes, remove washed cutlery. In some models, the door can be fixed in the ajar position. This is useful when you need to ventilate the hopper after a wash cycle.
Experts recommend airing the PMM chamber as often as possible, wiping its seals. This helps to prevent mold, fungus and unpleasant odors.
What should I do if the door in the dishwasher does not lock, opens abruptly and falls? You need to find out the causes of the problem. Most often it is:
- breakage of the lock;
- wiring problems;
- faulty spring lock.
If you recently installed a fully embeddable model and noticed this bug, don’t panic. Such PMMs are specially supplied with unadjusted elements so that it is convenient for you to fix the facade. At the end of the installation work, you independently regulate the opening and closing.
What is the locking mechanism
It includes several elements:
- door spring;
- tension cable;
- plastic blocker;
- a loop.
How is the door fixed? When opened, the loop pulls on the cable, which in turn pulls down the metal spring. When opening, you apply force, the tensioner pulls the spring as much as possible, and the blocker fixes it in this position.
When closing, the blocker is removed, the spring is reduced and the chamber is closed. At the end, you have to hold the door, because it tends to slam shut faster.
Imagine that the blocker is out of order. Then the spring is held in a stretched position only by your efforts.
How to open and secure the door normally? Repair will help.
Do-it-yourself PMM repair
If the hopper does not open normally, action must be taken. The assembly mechanism is the same in dishwashers Bosch, Siemens, Veko, Ariston and other brands, so there is only one instruction.
Do this:
- Open the chamber door as far as it will go. Hold her in that position.
- Unscrew the screws on the inner and side perimeter.
- Remove the upper inner part by pulling it towards you.
- A mechanism will open in front of you.
- Loosen the spring.
- Remove the cover from the cable and remove the old blocker. It cannot be repaired, only replaced.
- Install a new blocker.
Before assembling, check if the new mechanism is working properly. If everything is in order, then assemble the inner panel, fix the screws and continue to operate as usual.
There is another breakdown – the door falls. In such cases, the cable and spring are checked. One of the elements is replaced.
How to properly adjust, read the article.
There are other problems when the door:
- Doesn’t close, doesn’t block. You need to check the lock and lock. The lock fixes the door in the closed position, and the blocker locks it electronically. Only then will the wash start. If you notice that the program does not start, you should replace the electronic lock.
- Leaked. The rubber seals are worn out or the cable is broken. Rubber bands wear out quickly due to mold, so be sure to ventilate the chamber. Replacing them is easy, just remove the old and install new seals.
- Creaks. Loops, spring are inspected and lubricated.
