Dishwasher does not draw water – what to do

Have you loaded appliances into the dishwasher after a family meal, turned it on, but do not hear the sounds of water filling? Do not rush to sin on the technique, the reason may be an incorrect connection or a kink in the hose. Why the dishwasher does not draw water and buzzes, we will understand in this publication.

What caused the problem

A similar problem is typical for all PMM models: Ariston, Indesit, Veko, Siemens and others. Why is the machine not filled or supplied with water? Consider the typical problems that a user may encounter:

  1. Lack of water in the plumbing. It’s that simple. Perhaps there is a shutdown sign on your door, or maybe there is a problem. Open the faucet in the bathroom and check your guesses. If everything is in order with the water supply, then proceed to the next step.
  2. Hopper door is not fully closed. If the blocking does not work, then the water intake will not start. Press the door firmly until it clicks, after which the feed should resume.
  3. Stop valve closed. If the water does not fill with water, check the valve located on the water pipe. It is used for emergency shutdown in case of emergency. It may have been blocked – then unscrew it.
  4. Inlet hose kinked. He could pinch or bend, which prevents the passing flow. Restore the normal position of the hose.
  5. Weak pressure. This happens when there is not enough pressure in the system to enter the dishwasher. It remains only to wait until the normal supply resumes.

You checked everything point by point, but there is still no water supply? So it’s not a minor issue. We will tell you what to do in this case and how to deal with the breakdown.

Technical malfunctions of the PMM and their elimination

Let’s start with the simplest – by checking the intake filter. If water does not enter the Electrolux, Beko, Krona, Virpul PMM, the inlet filter is probably clogged. It is located at the junction of the inlet hose with the machine body. Due to the hardness and contamination of the water, the mesh is clogged, and the flow is not poured into the bunker.

How to proceed:

  • turn off the tap;
  • disconnect the hose from the body (carefully, there may be water inside);
  • using pliers (if necessary), remove the filter mesh;
  • rinse the part with warm water or soak for a while in a solution of citric acid.

Even if the supply is restored after cleaning, do not forget to rinse the filter every six months. This will help avoid technical problems.

It is also advisable to install a flow filter. It softens and purifies water. This will help the heating element (heater) last longer without scale.

Problems with Aquastop

Does your Siemens dishwasher (Siemens), Hansa (Hansa) have an Aquastop valve installed? Then the reason that the water does not go and is not pumped is probably in it. When a leak develops in the hose, the valve is plugged to avoid an accident. The protective mechanism cannot be repaired, it needs to be replaced.

Want to make sure Aquastop worked? Look at the display. There will be highlighted error code E15.

What to do:

  • turn off the tap and disconnect the hose;
  • look inside: if the valve is firmly pressed against the sides of the hose, it’s in it;
  • unscrew the hose and replace with a new element.

Door lock defective

The dishwasher door is equipped with a locking mechanism. By means of an electronic lock, the lock prevents possible leakage. Check if there is no click when closing, the lock needs to be replaced.

How to fix the problem yourself:

  • pull the plug out of the socket;
  • open the door and unscrew the screws holding the front panel;
  • behind the panel you will see a locking device – unscrew the screws and remove it from its place;
  • install a new lock;
  • reassemble in reverse order.

Inlet valve broken

Is the supply valve not filling with water? The problem is identified by the buzzing of the pump, which is actively working, but the valve does not open, therefore it does not pump water. This part in the dishwasher is very sensitive to pressure drops: for example, Bosch models are designed for 1 MPa. Therefore, manufacturers recommend installing pressure reducing valves, which will help to avoid water hammer.

First, check the part for blockage. If everything is in order, a complete replacement of the element is carried out. The valve cannot be repaired.

Breakdown of the level sensor (pressure switch)

The supply or fill sensor must measure the water level in the tank. How it works? The pressure switch is triggered and sends a signal to the main module to stop the intake. The module sends a command to the intake valve to close. However, if the sensor breaks down, it may give incorrect readings. For example, it signals that little water has been pumped. Then the machine carries out the intake in excess of the norm, and this can lead to overflow.

If you notice that the water supply indicator is on (blinking), but there is no flow, then the sensor gives a command that there is already enough in the tank.

It may be like this: the control module, having received the sensor signal, “thinks” that the system is not supplying water. Therefore, it slows down the operation of the PMM and displays a fault code on the scoreboard.

How to fix the situation? To replace the pressure switch:

  1. Disconnect the machine from the network and communications.
  2. Turn it over on its side.
  3. Remove the cover from the bottom (if any).
  4. The pressure switch is a plastic box.
  5. Using pliers, remove the tube from the box.
  6. Remove two screws.
  7. Remove the sensor and check for debris.
  8. To check the performance, measure the resistance of the contacts with a multimeter.
  9. Install a new item.

The electronic module is out of order

The control board manages the processes in the dishwasher, gives commands to parts and assemblies to turn on and off. If there are problems with the module, you may notice incorrect PMM behavior. For example, the “Water” and “End” buttons are lit on the panel. That speaks of an attempt to fence – and then about its end. Therefore, the equipment does not pump water.

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to fix the board yourself. But you can inspect it for damage, and then contact the service:

  • open the bunker door;
  • unscrew the bolts at the ends and the back;
  • open access inside – there you will see a fee.

If you notice burnt wires, contact the master. Nothing further needs to be done so as not to damage important details.

Most dishwasher problems can be fixed by hand. Proceed consistently and follow our recommendations if your PMM does not pour water. Watch related videos:
