Risk factors for noncommunicable diseases
Smoking. A person is considered a smoker even if he smokes one cigarette a day. Reducing the number of cigarettes, smoking “lightweight” cigarettes, pipes, hookahs and other forms of tobacco consumption do not reduce the risks.
Unbalanced diet: excessive intake of saturated fats, trans fats, easily digestible carbohydrates and salt, insufficient intake of fruits, vegetables, fish.
Low physical activity: walking, housework, and other physical activities for less than 30 minutes a day.
High blood pressure: 140/90 and more – arterial hypertension. High blood pressure is the leading cause of stroke. It also contributes to the development of arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, heart and kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease.
Elevated blood glucose levels. Many people are unaware that they have diabetes. This analysis is especially important for people with obesity, in the presence of close relatives suffering from diabetes mellitus, as well as women who have given birth to a large (over 4 kg) child. Normal fasting glucose is <6,1 mmol / L.
Alcohol consumption. According to the WHO, every year 3,3 million people die from alcohol in the world, accounting for 5,9% of all deaths. Alcohol consumption leads to death and disability relatively earlier in life. Among people aged 20–39, approximately 25% of all deaths are alcohol-related.
Early diagnosis of cancer
Even in countries with optimal health systems and services, many cancers are detected at advanced stages, when treatment success is more difficult to achieve.
Leading doctors in the world say: cancer screening should be widespread and inexpensive. Since 2018, cancer screening has been included in Russia free medical examination in order to detect cancer at an early stage.
Among other innovations of clinical examination: high cholesterol levels are now considered risk factors for the development of chronic non-infectious diseases.
Mammography is now performed for women from 40 to 75 years old once every 1 years, and a fecal occult blood test for patients from 2 to 40 years old – once every 64 years, at the age of 1 to 2 years, once a year.
There are time limits for waiting for medical care for patients with cancer. They should not exceed 14 calendar days from the date of receipt of the results of histological examination or from the date of diagnosis.
Is a mole a tumor or a benign pigmented lesion?
Recently, the number of skin melanoma diseases has been growing in the world, especially in young women. The statistics on the incidence of skin melanoma in Russia are disappointing. Growing through all layers of the skin, tumor cells with blood and lymph flow spread throughout the body, forming distant metastases (secondary tumor foci) in the lungs, liver, and brain.
Mortality in skin melanoma reaches 50%. Therefore, it is especially important not to allow the influence of factors provoking the development of this disease on the skin. And the main factor is the effect of ultraviolet rays on the skin. According to experts, it is worth worrying and go to the doctor’s office if a mole begins for no reason:
change shape, size, structure;
itch;
inflame;
change color or shade;
bleed.
Can Viruses Cause Cancer?
There is evidence of viruses and bacteria that can precede certain types of cancer. Some of these infections are quite common, and their carriers are not aware of the possible impending danger. Cancer risks increase if you have ever been diagnosed with the following viral diseases:
human papillomavirus (No. 16 and No. 18);
hepatitis B and C viruses;
HIV;
herpes virus type 8 (HHV-8);
Epstein-Barr virus.
In addition, there is evidence that the bacterium Helicobacter pylori can cause oncological lesions of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Chronic inflammation is one of the risk factors for cancer.
Prevention and free diagnostics of CHNIZ
Regular preventive medical measures prevent the development of many diseases at an early stage of their development. The SOGAZ-Med insurance company invites insured citizens to undergo medical examination and reminds of dispensary registration.
The compulsory medical insurance policy allows the population to undergo health checks every three years at the age of 18 to 39, inclusive, and annually at the age of 40 and older (as well as for certain categories of citizens). The year of the medical examination is the calendar year in which the citizen reaches the appropriate age.
