Diseases from stress: what to eat and how to avoid
Stress can cause not only headaches, but also very serious problems in the body. Meanwhile, it is quite simple to resist “nervous” diseases.
Probably, everyone is familiar with the state when the temperature suddenly rises without symptoms, or in the middle of summer a cold overcomes, or twists an attack of gastritis. And also high pressure, pricks the heart, “wedges” the back, a rash appears on the hands … The list is endless. This is how the body reacts to nervous shocks and stress. Chronic lack of sleep, conflicts, rush jobs at work, fatigue and other circumstances can seriously harm health in the form of a fallen disease. And any doctor, before prescribing treatment, will be convinced of the root cause of the disease. Because you can constantly treat the stomach, blood vessels, heart, allergies, but it will be possible to recover only when the source of nervous irritation disappears or the patient learns to calmly react to circumstances.
The human body is a closed system that reluctantly adapts to external stimuli. The nervous system controls the smooth and smooth functioning of the whole organism. But in a critical situation, when a person experiences excitement, stress, anticipation of danger, the central nervous system shuts down from its main activity in order to help the brain protect the body from an attack and cope with an emergency situation. As a result, the stress hormone adrenaline is released, the heart begins to contract more often, the blood vessels become toned.
What diseases appear “from the nerves”?
The list of diseases with a history of psychosomatic origin is quite large. But let’s dwell on some that can happen to literally anyone. After one-time attacks, the body has time to recover. But if a person constantly lives in such a tense state, he is used to suppressing his emotions, then the internal organs cannot withstand the load, and diseases appear that turn into a chronic stage.
High blood pressure and heart disease. We have already said that under stress, the vessels spasm, the blood flow accelerates, the pulse quickens – this is a primitive scheme of increasing pressure.
Why is it dangerous: acute cardiac conditions (heart attack), stroke.
Bronchial asthma. The respiratory system is the first to suffer from sudden stress. A person feels that he does not have enough air, begins to choke. In bronchial asthma, this is a particularly dangerous manifestation. The disease has an allergic predisposition, but is exacerbated during a period of even minor excitement.
Why is it dangerous: an attack of suffocation.
Gastritis, ulcers and other gastrointestinal diseases. It seems to many that there is no connection between nervous shocks and exacerbation of gastrointestinal diseases. But this is not the case. Blood in a larger volume enters the muscles and to the brain, and the deficit of the usual blood supply to the digestive tract turns into pain, nausea, diarrhea, food is poorly absorbed.
Why is it dangerous: painful attacks, gastric bleeding, irritable bowel syndrome, peptic ulcer disease.
Skin diseases. This is a secondary manifestation of gastrointestinal problems. Due to a malfunction in the digestive system, nutrients are poorly absorbed, immunity decreases, irritation, rashes, and peeling appear on the skin. If started, they can turn into chronic psoriasis, eczema, acne.
Why is it dangerous: the integrity of the skin is violated, if bacteria enter, inflammation is possible.
Vulnerability to infectious diseases. In the body, under stress, the level of T-lymphocytes in the blood, which are responsible for immunity, decreases.
Why is it dangerous: Therefore, during this period, you can easily become infected with a viral or infectious disease.
Headache. There can be many reasons why a migraine occurs. And only a doctor will understand the diagnosis. But negative emotions should not be allowed to roam – the brain does not like this, it will respond with at least severe pain or dizziness.
Why is it dangerous: loss of consciousness, fainting, stroke.
What to do in order not to get nervous
No matter how trite it may seem, a healthy lifestyle forms stress resistance. Review your day: is there enough time to rest, how many hours you can sleep, are there regular walks in the fresh air, is there any sports activity. Good sleep, proper nutrition, and moderate exercise are beneficial for mental health. And bad habits – alcohol and cigarettes – act in the opposite way on the central nervous system.
Fitness. With regular exertion, the body produces the hormone of joy – serotonin. Therefore, after a busy day, it is better to relieve stress in the gym – both the body and the soul.
Controlling emotions. Understand your feelings – what throws you off balance? Decide on tactics for responding to negativity and keep your emotions in check. If you can’t cope on your own, contact a psychologist.
Get creative. Any hobby, especially related to handicrafts, calms the nervous system. Activities with fine motor skills are useful – embroidery, beading, knitting. It is proven that as long as you are engaged in creativity, the nervous system will be calm.
Relax. More precisely, you need to be able to relax. For some it is just to lie on the couch with a book, but for others to conquer a mountain peak. The main thing is to get pleasure from the rest.
Learn to get rid of negative experiences. What happened cannot be fixed. Forget it, but try to learn the right lesson. But what you don’t need to do is go through the situation in your head, come up with a scenario for revenge, or sort things out. Negative energy can destroy health.
