Discoloration of facial and body hair: how to do it?
Unfortunately, all women are not equal when it comes to hair growth. Fortunately, to remove certain hairs that are found to be unsightly, without having to pluck them, discoloration is a very good solution. Especially since it offers between two and three months of peace.
The benefits of hair discoloration
For facial hair
Depending on its genetic makeup and hormones, the hair will be more or less important and more or less dark. It is not, however, a question of skin color. Indeed, some women with a diaphanous complexion but with brown hair, may have darker hair.
On the face, the hair will above all be located above the upper lip, at the level of the eyebrows, as well as on the down present on the contour of the cheeks.
Rather than waxing, bleaching is a less restrictive alternative, which also offers a natural result when done properly.
For body hair
On the body, the need for discoloration may be greater. In some women, the dark hairs will tend to be located at the level of the belly following a vertical line towards the pubic hair. These hairs are relatively fine and can easily be discolored.
On other parts of the body, the dark shade of the hairs and the extent of their presence can generate complexes.
This can in particular be the case on the forearms, a part of the body that one does not necessarily want to epilate, or even the upper thighs. Here too, the discoloration makes it possible to reduce their color by several tones.
Hydrogen peroxide to bleach the face or body, a good idea?
Hydrogen peroxide has long been known to bleach body hair and hair. Depending on the volume it contains, it will discolor more or less intensely.
For the face, opt for a volume 20 hydrogen peroxide. It is applied between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on the desired intensity, using a soaked cotton pad. Then run a little lukewarm water on the affected areas and moisturize your skin.
For darker hair and on the body, hydrogen peroxide is applied the same way but longer. Which, on a practical side, is not ideal. In addition, if your hair is very dark, hydrogen peroxide will not be enough to lighten it sufficiently.
Hydrogen peroxide is therefore a solution to be used occasionally on small areas.
Bleaching cream and bleaching gel, for face and body
Whether for the face or the body, the products available on the market are identical. Presented in the form of a cream in most cases, or a gel, these are formulations based on ammonia and oxygen peroxide, in other words hydrogen peroxide.
Similar to hair discoloration but to a much lesser extent, the hair scales are opened by the combined chemical action of the two main ingredients. The pigments responsible for the coloring are then oxidized and lose their brown tint.
The products are always presented in kit form. Usually, these are two tubes to be mixed in a cup using a spatula: the bleach as such and the developer, which cannot be linked in advance. This also makes it possible to be able to dose according to its needs and to recap the tubes until its next use.
The application time varies from 5 to 15 minutes depending on the product and the area to be bleached. A downy cheek will only take a few minutes in many cases. While darker hairs above the mouth will need more time. The exposure time really depends on each individual.
Bleach the down of the face
Down is the set of fine hairs that cover the skin to protect it. If these hairs are too dark on your face, opt for either hydrogen peroxide on a small area (above the lips, at the bottom of the jaw) if the color approaches chestnut. Instead, prefer cream or bleaching gel for a brown down.
In both cases, the exposure time should not exceed 5 to 10 minutes. But in all cases follow the directions for your product.
Precautions to take
Before using any bleaching product, it is mandatory to do an allergy test 48 hours before on a small area of skin.
Finally, avoid discoloration if you have sensitive or reactive skin.
