The disciplinary approach can be carried out in a different style — in the army style, in the style of the Barracks, in the style of various Religious schools that put discipline at the forefront (Jewish education, Orthodox education, Catholic education).

The disciplinary approach is based on the following principles: there are general rules for everyone, sanctions follow for non-compliance with the rules and agreements. Sanctions are natural, well-known, and for serious offenses they can be harsh. Natural mode, routine, everyone has their own rights and obligations, in the relationship of senior-junior subordination, format. In the army style, the discipline of the body is welcomed (“not a single muscle flinched”), with a strict religious upbringing, the discipline of the spirit.

A disciplinary approach is a masculine approach, not a feminine one. For men, it is understandable and close, for women it is difficult to implement and is not close ideologically. For many centuries, it was the disciplinary approach that was the basis of almost any education, in particular the basis of religious education in traditional religions, in connection with which it is often called traditional education.

At the same time, the disadvantages of the disciplinary approach are also obvious: with a close-minded and good teacher, the child is practically unprotected from arbitrariness. High risk of mental injury.

A protest against the rigidity of the disciplinary approach was free education, based on the ideas of the humanistic approach. It often seems that the disciplinary approach, in comparison with the free upbringing of the child, enslaves. This is not true. Enslaves the «barracks»: the army style of education, combined with the negativity of the educator. The disciplinary approach, combined with the positive of the educator, is one of the most successful educational styles and best prepares the educator for life. He is well integrated into the work process, into the world of adults and responsible business relationships, and therefore is welcomed in a socially oriented approach.

A disciplinary approach can be implemented in different models of education. Most often it is used in the «Concentration Camp», «Spacious House» and «Spacious House with a Development Line» models.
