Disabled child care leave: additional, paid, documents
A parental leave with a disabled child will help you spend more time at home, because a special baby requires more attention. Understand how to arrange such a vacation, in accordance with all the requirements of the law.
How long is the additional paid vacation
A family raising a disabled native or adopted child is entitled to 4 days of leave every month. In this case, free days can be used by one of the parents, or they can divide these days among themselves in any proportion.

Bonus vacation days are paid, but for this you must provide an application and all the necessary papers. You need to discuss with management how often you will take this leave – monthly, quarterly, or annually. So, if you need different days every month, the first option will do. And if you are always ready to go on vacation on the same days, choose the second or third option.
Documents for granting leave
To get legal vacation days, you need to provide the following official papers:
- Child’s birth certificate or documents that prove that you have taken over custody or adopted a child under 18 years of age.
- Certificate issued by the medical and social expert commission. She confirms the presence of a disability in the baby.
- Certificate from the place of registration.
- Certificate from work of the second parent stating that he does not receive a similar leave or receives part of it. If the second parent is engaged in entrepreneurial activity, he must still provide the appropriate paper.
Please note that the payment for the days of such leave is not given to you by the manager out of his own pocket, but by the social insurance authorities.
Here’s what you need to know about this type of vacation:
- Your total length of service and length of service in a particular organization does not affect your vacation. Even if you went to work in the middle of the month, you are still entitled to your legal four-day leave.
- If you have not used part or all of your vacation in one of the months, you cannot transfer these days to the next month, thus accumulating more free days.
- You are not allowed to convert your free days into cash.
If you work for two or more organizations, it is important that the leave is taken at the same time in each of them.
Remember, if you work officially, the employer has no right to refuse you leave. In case of such a refusal, you can contact the higher authorities.
