Dirty matrini cocktail – gin, vermouth and olive juice in one glass

Here is a recipe for one of the simplest alcoholic cocktails, consisting of only three ingredients available. This makes the “Dirty Martini” easy to make at home and treat your guests to it. Its delicate taste is forever remembered after the first sip.

Historical reference. “Dirty Martini” is a successful variation of another famous cocktail – “Dry Martini”. They differ only in the presence of olive brine in the first recipe, due to which the cocktail acquires an original flavor and becomes cloudy. Hence the name “dirty”.

It is believed that US President Franklin Roosevelt was the first to mix gin with dry vermouth. In December 1933, on live television, he celebrated the repeal of Prohibition, which banned the consumption of alcohol by US citizens.

Composition and proportions:

  • vodka (gin) – 70 ml;
  • dry vermouth (Dry) – 20 ml;
  • brine of green olives – 10 ml;
  • olives – 1 piece.

To prepare a cocktail, you need well-chilled vodka (gin) without third-party additives, which in this case will spoil the taste. Vermouth should be dry (with a minimum sugar content), it is called Secco or Dry. Bianco, Rosso and other vermouths are not suitable.

The strength of the drink can be changed by adding a different ratio of vermouth and gin. It is not recommended to increase the proportion of the brine, as this makes the cocktail bitter.
