The behavioral approach is not behaviorism, behaviorism is only one of the directions of the behavioral paradigm. The main directions within the behavioral paradigm are the behavioral direction, the cognitive-behavioral direction, traditional pedagogy, the active and the personal-active approach.
- Behavioral direction
It considers a person only as an organism and an object of influence, works primarily with the externally visible, observable behavior of a person and his reactions. See →
- Cognitive-behavioral direction
According to the cognitive-behavioral approach, a person’s external behavior is determined not only and not so much by external stimuli, but by his internal variables (impulses, states, and mental maps). At the same time, these internal variables themselves are determined by external circumstances and can be changed by them. As a result, the cognitive-behavioral direction still deals with external behavior, understanding how a person thinks and how it affects his behavior. See →
- Traditional Pedagogy
Traditional pedagogy is a completely behavioral approach. For traditional pedagogy, the feelings of a schoolchild can be any and different, naturally reflecting the circumstances of life and what happens to him, but a person is responsible for his behavior (according to age), personally. See →
- Active approach
According to the active approach, the inner world, thoughts and experiences of a person are not a simple reflection of the external circumstances of life, but a refraction through his system of motives and personal constructs. At the same time, the main emphasis of the active approach is on what a person does in reality, in life, on his actions and deeds. Supporters of the active approach are convinced that the soul is the soul, and a person is responsible for his behavior. See →
- Personal-active direction (approach)
According to the personal-active approach, an adult and reasonable person builds his life himself, setting goals and finding means to solve them. Any thought and any emotion should be targeted and expedient. And for what is in my soul, and for my outward behavior — I personally answer, as the Author of my life. The focus is still behavior, although behavior is not only external, but also internal. See →
