Diosminex – when to use? Action and composition of the drug for venous insufficiency

Diosminex is used in the symptomatic treatment of venous and lymphatic insufficiency (feeling of heaviness in the lower limbs, pain, night cramps). and symptomatic treatment in case of worsening of the symptoms associated with haemorrhoids.

ACTION

Diosminex is a preparation that increases venous tone and protects the vessels.

Diosminex – indications and dosage

Indications:

  1. symptomatic treatment of venous and lymphatic vessel insufficiency: feeling of heaviness in the lower limbs, pain, night cramps (usually 1 tablet 2 × a day in the morning and evening),
  2. symptomatic treatment in case of worsening of symptoms related to haemorrhoids (6 tablets / day for 4 days, then 4 tablets / day for 3 days).

Administer orally with a meal.

Diosminex and contraindications

Contraindication to the use of Diosminex are:

  1. hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation,
  2. pregnancy,
  3. the period of breastfeeding.

Diosminex – warnings

  1. It should be remembered that treatment with Diosminex is only symptomatic and should be short-term.
  2. If during the treatment the symptoms related to haemorrhoids do not disappear or worsen, a proctological examination is recommended.
  3. The use of Diosminex in the symptomatic treatment of ailments related to haemorrhoids does not preclude the administration of other drugs rectally.
  4. The drug contains lactose; patients with hereditary disorders of galactose intolerance, the lactase deficiency or malabsorption of glucose-galactose should not use the preparation.
  5. It should be remembered that in the treatment of venous circulation disorders in the lower extremities, an appropriate lifestyle can increase the effectiveness of Diosminex, in particular: avoiding sun exposure, avoiding standing for a long time, wearing special stockings, maintaining an appropriate weight.
  6. There are no data on the safety of the use of Diosminex in pregnant and lactating women.
  7. It is not recommended for pregnant women and breastfeeding women.

Diosminex – interactions

There are no known interactions of Diosminex with other drugs.

Diosminex – side effects

There may be: diarrhea, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and headache, malaise, rash, itching, hives. Treatment discontinuation is not necessary in the case of mild gastrointestinal adverse reactions and neurovegetative disorders.
