Diosminex Max is a medicinal product for people who experience heaviness or pain in the legs, night cramps or suffer from acute hemorrhoids. It is a solution for patients dissatisfied with the appearance of varicose veins, minor hemorrhoids, and chronic conditions of venous insufficiency. It removes visible spider veins, and also deals with swollen, heavy legs after prolonged use.
Diosminex Max – composition
The preparation helps protect blood vessels by increasing their tension, which gives them greater protection and resistance. It reduces the expansion of veins and helps with venous stagnation. In the case of weak capillaries, it increases their resistance. It works well for the lymph circulation due to the shortening of the emptying time of the venous vessel.
The active substance of Diosminex Max is micronized diosmin (aka Diosminum), which is present at a concentration of 1000 mg per tablet. The package usually contains 30 or 60 tablets in blisters. Diosminex Max tablets are coated, green and oblong. The biconvex, smooth surface facilitates swallowing.
The auxiliary substances of Diosminex Max are:
- microcrystalline cellulose,
- colloidal anhydrous silica,
- croscarmellose sodium,
- magnesium stearate,
- polyvinyl alcohol
- titanium dioxide,
- orange yellow lake,
- indigo carmine lake,
- talk,
- macrogol,
- black iron oxide.

Diosminex Max – action
Diosminex Max is a drug that improves the elasticity of blood vessels, protects them and increases venous tone. The preparation reduces the permeability of capillaries and increases their resistance at the level of microcirculation, and in people with fragile vessels, it strengthens the capillary system.
When used orally, Diosminex Max is absorbed in the digestive tract after being metabolized by the bacterial flora into an aglycone, which is then excreted in the faeces and urine.
Diosminex Max – indications
The indication for the use of Diosminex Max is:
- treatment of symptoms associated with chronic venous insufficiency in adults. This applies, inter alia, to heaviness in the legs, night cramps in the legs and leg pain;
- symptomatic treatment of severe symptoms associated with haemorrhoids in adult patients.

Diosminex Max – dosage
If the drug has been prescribed by a doctor, it is absolutely necessary to adhere to the dosage established by him. Otherwise, the patient should read the leaflet carefully.
The preparation is used orally, it is advisable to take it with a meal.
The product is available for purchase at a pharmacy without a prescription. It should be stored in a shaded place inaccessible to children, in a sealed package. A related drug to Diosminex Max is Diohespan Max.
In the symptomatic treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, one tablet is recommended daily for a minimum of several weeks. If the patient suffers from haemorrhoids (i.e. severe hemorrhoids), take Diosminex Max three times a day for the first four days, then two tablets a day for the next three days of treatment.
The preparation should not be used if the patient is allergic or hypersensitive to the active substance and any auxiliary component of the drug. Diosminex Max contains lactose and sunset yellow, which causes allergic reactions in some patients.

Diosminex Max – side effects
The use of Diosminex Max is not free from side effects, however, it should be remembered that the benefits of using the preparation are usually higher than the risk of side effects. Side effects that have been rarely reported include:
- dizziness and headaches;
- bad mood;
- diarrhea;
- indigestion;
- nausea and vomiting;
- rash;
- hives;
- itching
It should also be remembered that mild cases of side effects related to the digestive system or neurovegetative disorders are not an indication to stop taking Diosminex Max.

Diosminex Max – precautions
Side effects of Diosminex Max are rare and have a relatively mild course. They include:
- diarrhea,
- nausea,
- indigestion,
- vomiting,
- bad mood,
- rash,
- dizziness,
- hives
- Headache,
- itching
Symptoms of increased anxiety, sweating or a fast heartbeat are not a reason to discontinue the drug.
Take special care if there is increased inflammation of the skin, veins, pain or swelling. In this situation, the patient should consult a doctor immediately.
Diosminex Max is a symptomatic drug. In the event of worsening of any complaints (for example related to haemorrhoids), you should immediately consult a proctologist in order to conduct an appropriate examination and select the appropriate treatment for a specific disease.
Taking the drug should be short-term. It does not exclude the possibility of simultaneous rectal administration of other preparations.
The therapeutic effect of Diosminex Max should be increased by avoiding exposure to the sun and standing for a long time, maintaining the desired body weight, and wearing rehabilitation stockings for varicose veins. Remember to tell your doctor about all preparations taken by the patient at the moment, including those issued without a prescription, because Diosminex Max interacts with diclofenac and metronidazole.

Diosminex Max and pregnancy and breastfeeding
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, you should not take any medication without consulting your doctor to explain the risks and benefits of any preparation. If a woman is pregnant or planning to become pregnant, she should consult her doctor.
It should also be remembered that the manufacturer does not recommend the use of Diosminex Max in pregnant women. This also applies to breastfeeding women as there is no information on the penetration of the active substance into breast milk.
