Old traditions, new vision

Dioskuria is bottled at the Wines and Waters of Abkhazia enterprise. This alcohol producer traces its history back to the legendary Sukhumi Winery, whose fame thundered throughout the USSR. Such a legacy imposes certain obligations. But to the credit of the company, the new generation of winemakers adequately copes with this burden.

The new sort of wine first saw the light in 2003, along with “Radeda”, “Chegem” and “Eshera”. Its name refers to the name of the first Greek colony, whose ruins now lie at the bottom of the Sukhumi Bay. According to the most common legend, this colony arose on the site of an ancient Abkhazian city with the same name. Such a step symbolizes the continuity of generations and reminds of the glorious history of local winemaking.

Drink the color of the sun

Wine “Dioskuria” is made from grape varieties Sauvignon Blanc, Aligote and Rkatsiteli. Grown at the mouth of the Gumista River, they give the drink a soft golden color and a pleasant aroma of wildflowers. The strength of the wine is 11%, but the drink is surprisingly easy to drink, without causing intoxication even in large quantities.

Like “Amra” and “Lykhny”, “Dioskuria” is classified as a women’s drink. It has a rather harmonious and refreshing taste, where the sweetness of fruits perfectly compensates for the sourness characteristic of dry wines. The aftertaste is delicate, tinged with notes of southern fruits.
