Dined: an American almost ate a pearl in a restaurant

American Rick Entosh came to the Grand Central Oyster Bar in Manhattan to dine with a friend. He ordered stewed oysters. Imagine his surprise when he found a real pearl in one of them.

When the man felt something hard and smooth in his mouth, he thought it was a piece of dishes, a missing filling or a tooth. But, as it turned out, it was a pea-sized pearl.

The man decided to consult with the chef of the restaurant. He confirmed that the client had found pearls, and noted that this is the second such case in a restaurant in 28 years. Oyster Bar sells over XNUMX oysters every day.

Rick Entosh was extremely lucky, as pearls are very rare in nature – 1 for every 10000 oysters.

Despite a small black spot on the surface, such a pearl can cost from two to four thousand dollars. As experts noted, pearls of this size are rare – oysters for restaurants are usually harvested before they have time to grow them. Pearls are formed in one in ten thousand cases, CBS notes. This usually happens when sand gets into the sink.

However, Rick Entosh does not plan to sell it – the man wants to keep the pearl as a commemorative talisman, considering its find a good sign by the end of the outgoing year. Rick also plans to eat oysters as often as possible to repeat the success.
