The dimensions of built-in dishwashers are important in order to correctly install the appliances and properly organize the space in the kitchen. I especially want to know them when every millimeter counts. We suggest considering the dimensions of built-in dishwashers – what they are, what to look for when choosing.
Regulated sizes of built-in PMM
Until January 1, 1994, there was a standard in operation – GOST 27454, which strictly regulated both the dimensions of the machines and their characteristics. The width, depth and height of the built-in model should not exceed 50, 60 and 81,5 cm, respectively. Manufacturers could deviate from the indicated values by only 0,5 cm.
Do you think this is a stupid idea? But in vain, because such norms guaranteed one hundred percent compliance of the capacity of the machine with the produced dishes and furniture. Other rules were also included in the document:
- The power cord must be at least 2 m long.
- The wall and the back of the machine should be separated by a distance of at least 5 cm (for good purposes – to ensure ventilation of the equipment).
On a note! The rule is still valid today. A 5-centimeter gap should be taken into account even when making a furniture set for your kitchen.
- For models that were built under the sink, it was obligatory to have a recess for a pipe that drains water. It must be at least 15 cm.
The standard existed temporarily, but managed to leave an imprint on the production standards of many manufacturers. Therefore, the dimensions of the PMM since 1994 do not differ too much from the norms. Now the parameters of the dishwashers can be as follows:
- 46-82 cm in height;
- 45-74 cm wide;
- 48-62 in depth.
What are built-in PMM
What are built-in dishwashers, based on their dimensions?
mini cars 45x46x48 cm (WxDxH). Usually they can accommodate up to 5 sets of dishes – this allows you to build appliances into a kitchen cabinet even in the smallest room of 6 square meters. m.
Fact! Among the small PMM there are models that can be installed under the sink to save even more space.
Compact dishwashers, designed for 6 sets, the overall values of which are 55x45x50 cm.
Medium or standard models are the most common on the market. The width varies in the range of 45-60 cm, the depth is 62 cm, the height is up to 85 cm. The bunker can hold up to 9 crockery sets, but the energy consumption is higher. Also, medium-sized models include narrow cars – 45 cm wide.
Important! For information on how to choose the most economical model, focusing on its energy consumption, read on the page “Dishwasher power».
Large PMM – the most capacious models, accommodating from 12 to 17 sets. Their width, height and depth may differ from the average parameters from several to ten centimeters.

How not to miscalculate
Drawing. How to act in order to avoid mistakes when choosing a PMM? In order for the equipment to match the width and depth of the cabinet or the niche prepared for it, you need to calculate everything to the millimeter. You should start with a drawing – at least a schematic. Decide in advance on the elements of furniture, the number of cabinets, with all the built-in appliances.
Tabletop depth. When calculating the depth (it is under it that built-in floor-type dishwashers are installed), do not forget to take into account the width of the facade (provided that a fully built-in model is purchased). Also leave some space between the walls of the cabinet – 5-8 mm.
Total: before you give an order to furniture makers, you should definitely know the parameters of your built-in household appliances. You can tell the dimensions of the machine (and other household appliances) to the designer or measurer, and he will take them into account in his drawings.
Important! When drawing up a drawing yourself, refer to the manual – it contains not only the data of the device, but also the requirements for the furniture into which it will be built.
As you can see, it is impossible not to take into account the dimensions when buying a dishwasher. But, chasing the perfect kitchen style solution, remember that the smaller the machine you choose, the smaller its capacity will be. The best solution is a compromise solution that involves the ideal placement of the dishwasher.
