Dill – tincture of vodka on dill

In most cases, dill tinctures are used for medicinal purposes, but there is one recipe designed specifically for drinking. Several groups of homemade alcohol lovers worked on the creation of this technology. The first versions of the tincture from dill seeds, and then the leaves, did not live up to expectations. Everything changed when enthusiasts tried to insist strong alcohol on plant umbrellas – inflorescences with seeds.

Any variety of dill will do: odorous, curly, garden. There is no fundamental difference. If you take fresh dill, the tincture will turn out with a faint aroma, green or light green in color, if dried, it will turn yellow, with a richer smell and taste. As an alcohol base, you can use moonshine (preferably grain or sugar distillate), store-bought vodka or ethyl alcohol diluted to 40-45%.

Use only faded umbels with seeds!

It is important to choose the right snack for homemade dill tincture. This male drink goes well with poultry meat, lamb, salted fish, fish soup and barbecue.

Ingredients:

  • dill umbrellas (with seeds) – 2 pieces;
  • vodka (moonshine, alcohol 40-45%) – 0,5 liters;
  • garlic – 1 clove (optional);
  • sugar (honey) – 0,5 teaspoon (optional);
  • fresh dill leaves – 2-3 pieces (optional).

Umbrellas are desirable to add along with stems 3-5 cm long. Garlic brings a little sharpness. Liquid honey or sugar softens the taste. Fresh leaves give a light green color and enhance the aroma, but do not combine well with dried umbrellas.

1. Fold the dill umbrellas into a container for infusion – a jar or a glass bottle. If desired, add finely chopped garlic and fresh dill leaves.

2. Fill with alcohol base. Close hermetically.

3. Keep 4-7 days in a dark, warm place. Shake once a day. After 4 days, taste every next 12 hours. The exact exposure time depends on the dill.

Too concentrated tincture can be diluted with pure vodka or alcohol.

4. When the aroma and taste are satisfactory, filter the finished dill tincture through cheesecloth or a kitchen sieve. Soften with sugar or liquid honey if desired. Be sure to stir until the sweetener is completely dissolved.

5. Pour the drink into bottles for storage, close with corks. Fortress 36-38%.
