Differin is an anti-acne preparation for topical application to the skin. The active substance in the drug is adapalene, which has a retinoid-like effect. It reduces inflammatory changes and pimples. The drug is indicated in the treatment of common, mild or moderate acne: blackhead acne, maculopapular acne. The preparation is in the form of a prescription gel / cream.

Indications for the use of Differin
Differin is indicated for the treatment of:
- common acne,
- mild or moderate acne: blackhead acne, maculopapular acne.
Differin and contraindications and warnings
- hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation is a contraindication to use,
- Differin should not be used in the case of severe acne vulgaris or acne affecting large areas of the skin,
- Do not use Differin on damaged skin, after burns (including sunbathing) or with eczema other than acne,
- do not use the preparation in children under 12 years of age,
- do not use in women during pregnancy,
- the drug is intended for external use only,
- protect your mouth, eyes and mucous membranes from contact with Differin,
- during the treatment with the preparation, the stratum corneum is thinned, which makes the skin more sensitive to external factors,
- avoid exposure to UV radiation (including quartz lamps, solariums and sun rays) by using e.g. hats or UV protection filters,
- do not use cosmetics recommended for acne prone skin or with an astringent effect.
Dosage Differin
Differin is a topical cream / gel. Each time after applying the preparation, wash your hands thoroughly. If there is no improvement after 3 months of treatment with the drug, consult a doctor who will decide on further treatment. Do not use in children under 12 years of age due to a lack of data on safety in this age group.
- Adults and children after the age of 12: use once a day, preferably in the evening. 1-10 minutes after washing and drying the acne skin, apply a small amount of gel or cream to the affected areas, except for the area around the eyes and mouth and nasolabial folds.
Differin and other substances
Inform your doctor about taking:
- exfoliating, astringent, abrasive cleaning or alcohol-containing preparations,
- anti-acne agents, such as antibiotics (e.g. clindamycin, erythromycin) or preparations with benzoyl peroxide (take them in the morning and the current preparation in the evening).
Differin – side effects
During the use of Differin, the following may occur: dryness, excessive peeling of the skin, irritation, sunburn, itching, burning sensation and / or skin erythema, contact dermatitis, irritation eczema, skin discomfort, skin pain, skin swelling, irritation, erythema, itching and eyelid swelling.
