You can spend a few hundred zlotys a month on a powdered diet. You will not change habits for life with her anyway. Maybe you will lose a few kilos, but if you quit the powder diet, the kilos will come back in excess. What do you need this for? You probably don’t know the correct answer to this question yourself. Or maybe you get into a bottle by companies that have an interest in stopping gluten, overeating protein or using drastic methods of cleansing the body? I’ve picked out a few tricks that the speeding ‘healthy’ food market might catch you on. Here they are:
0% fat products
In letters from you at least several times a day, you ask whether the yogurt from the diet should be 0%? Well, it shouldn’t be 0%. Every person needs fat. Builds cell membranes, improves the appearance of skin, hair and nails. In some low-fat products, this ingredient is replaced with sugar. Such yoghurt can therefore be more caloric than its fat predecessor. It is not worth making such substitutions. This is also assured by dietitian Marta Tomaszewska in the article: Food light
Cleansing cocktails
Very fashionable, simple and what teenagers would call ‘cool’. Does such a cleansing make sense? Most often, it consists in drinking only fruit or vegetable juices for a few or several weeks. During this time it is forbidden to eat solid food. The human body is a complicated machine that cleans inside without such a cleansing treatment. In order for the cleaning to be carried out correctly, you must also use a balanced and varied diet. Of course, juices can be part of it. Indeed, they are advisable. However, as a dietary supplement, not its primary ingredient. HCG hormone injections
HCG, or chorionic gonadotropin – a hormone produced by a fertilized egg and placenta. Its concentration increases during pregnancy. Already 7 days after fertilization, it can be measured in the urine. This is how pregnancy tests work. However, that was not what I wanted to write about. HCG has also been used as one of the methods of weight loss in the so-called HCG diet. The diet itself is very low in calories. It may even be less than 500 kcal. Apart from being advised to inject this hormone, you must not use oil, liquid soaps, and other body cleansers. It is also forbidden to use any physical activity. HCG on this diet does not lose weight. It is believed to prevent the feeling of hunger. No studies confirm the effectiveness of such therapy, so be careful!
Gluten-free diet
The fashion for a gluten-free diet has already reached Poland. People who suffer from celiac disease or those who are intolerant to gluten cannot consume it and it is health justified. Gluten for this group of people is simply toxic. Some people use this diet because it has become fashionable. A healthy person does not have to give up gluten. Gluten-free diets are often used as slimming diets. However, not everyone is aware that gluten-free products are mostly more caloric than their gluten counterparts.
They contain more fat, e.g. gluten-free bread compared to traditional bread. They are therefore not for weight loss. A diet that eliminates one food ingredient may also eliminate other elements such as vitamins and minerals. If you have an indication for a gluten-free diet, follow the dietary advice of course. However, if there is no health reason why you need to give up gluten, don’t rule it out or think carefully about it. We wrote more about the influence of gluten on the body in Gluten poisons us
Excess protein
Eating protein increases the metabolic rate by about 25%, while eating a mixed diet containing protein, fat and carbohydrates only by 10%. Hence, Dukan’s diet was once triumphant and ensured rapid weight loss. Now also in letters from you there are requests to increase the amount of protein in order to lose weight faster. Not the way.
Excess protein promotes kidney damage, the accumulation of kidney stones, osteoporosis, gout, liver damage, but also the accumulation of adipose tissue in the body and its acidification. Eat protein in moderation. The Pole has a tendency to exceed the recommended daily amount of protein in his traditional diet. You are almost certainly eating too much of it.
