Any kidney disease is a pathology that seriously disrupts the metabolism in the body. But even with such a diagnosis, a special sparing diet, which doctors call “Diet Table 7”, can have a significant healing effect. In addition, this health food diet will help restore water-salt balance and cope with edema, which is often a constant companion of kidney disease.
The therapeutic diet table 7 is not replete with prohibitions, which allows you to create a delicious and varied menu. The only thing you have to follow strictly is that your meals contain a minimum of fat and salt.
Features of the “Table 7” diet
Indications: with renal failure, with acute nephritis, with metabolic disorders, as well as for the prevention of leg edema;
Duration: as prescribed by a doctor;
Features: diet “Table 7” limits the consumption of protein (up to 70 g per day) and salt (up to 6 g); and also minimizes fluid intake;
Energy value: an average of 2 kK;
Fluid volume per day: no more than 0,8 – 1 l;
Best type of preparation: baking, steaming, boiling, stewing;
The frequency of the diet with the “Table 7” diet: fractional, 4-5 meals a day.
Diet “Table 7”: what is possible, what is not
Meat, poultry, fish. From meat and poultry, the emphasis should be on low-fat varieties (veal, beef, chicken, rabbit, turkey and others). The same is with fish – preference should be given to low-fat species of fish – cod, haddock, navaga, pollock, perch, pike perch, pike and others. Meat and fish dishes should be boiled, baked or steamed. Under the ban – smoked meats and pickles, lard, any fatty meats and fish, caviar, canned food.
Eggs. Eggs can be added to dishes with virtually “impunity” when cooking. However, it should be remembered that eggs are a protein product, which means: if you feasted on a steamed omelet for breakfast, then the portions of meat or fish on that day should be drastically reduced.
Bread and flour. Any bread and pastries are allowed in the diet, in the preparation of which salt and spices were not used.
Dairy. You can: milk, cream, dairy products (yogurt, cottage cheese, etc.). Of the prohibitions, only cheese.
Vegetables. Vegetables in the “Table 7” diet can be used in almost any and in any culinary solution. The exceptions are onions, garlic, radishes and radishes, as well as sorrel, spinach and vegetables in salted and pickled form.
Cereals. On diet 7, you can eat almost all types of cereals, as well as pasta.
Fruit and desserts. Fruit is allowed in any form, and from desserts, preference should be given to non-fatty and low-calorie sweets. Chocolate is prohibited from sweets.
The drinks. Tea (black, green, herbal), fresh juices (preferably diluted with water 1: 1), weak coffee are allowed. Under the ban – sweet soda, as well as mineral water with a high sodium content.
Additional prohibitions. The main prohibition applies to pure salt, as well as salt-containing products (marinades, pickles, canned food, smoked meats, semi-finished products, fast food, etc.). In addition, with the “Table 7” diet, you should be wary of the use of mushrooms, legumes and all kinds of industrial sauces. Mustard and horseradish are also prohibited.
Eating on a diet table 7 should be fractional – 4-5 times a day. For example, a menu for the day might look like this:
Breakfast: oatmeal in milk, 2 toast with jam, tea;
Lunch: fruit to choose from;
Lunch: vegetable soup, steamed veal cutlets with baked potato garnish;
Snack: steam omelet;
Dinner: pasta with seafood and creamy sauce.
