– Discrepancy of the abdominal muscles after childbirth, and scientifically diastasis, is a very common phenomenon in women after childbirth. During pregnancy, the muscles of the press are stretched, which, by the way, is necessary for the growing fetus in the womb, and after the appearance of the baby, sometimes they return to their usual state, and sometimes not. In the latter case, the anterior wall of the abdominal cavity does not have time to recover, the connective tissues weaken and do not support the internal organs – this is the reason for the sagging of the abdomen.

A third of all women who have given birth are faced with the problem of a distended abdomen. Fortunately, diastasis does not have a negative effect on overall health, but it causes psychological and aesthetic discomfort for many women.

Restoration of tissues after the birth of a baby occurs at 6-10 weeks. Before this time, do not worry about anything, let your body restore itself naturally.

Why and for whom is this happening?

  • Most often, this phenomenon is faced by thin girls, as well as those who have extra pounds before pregnancy.

  • Women with multiple pregnancies.

  • Second and subsequent pregnancies.

  • Mother’s age. The older she is, the more likely the development of diastasis.

  • Poor muscle tone, complete lack of physical activity before childbirth.

  • Kyphosis, or curvature of the spine in the thoracic region.

  • The presence of diastasis after a previous pregnancy.

Prevention of diastasis

If you want to prevent the development of diastasis, six months before the onset of pregnancy, go in for sports: it has been scientifically proven that trained muscles can more easily restore tone and normal position when a baby is born.

During pregnancy, all mothers should remember that loads on the abdominal muscles are generally contraindicated for them. Do not lift weights or wear high heels. If you get out of bed, first of all, roll over onto your side, lower your legs one by one, and then get up. Wear maternity corrective underwear and corsets.

– As a mother of three children and a doctor, I am very sensitive to the condition of the abdominal muscles. Obviously, diastasis is a problem that worries almost every woman, especially if the child is not the first. Many plastic surgeons advise to perform operations that will help solve this problem. Alas, constant training will not be able to return the stomach to its previous shape. However, there are several technologies on the cosmetic market that tone muscles and lead them to healthy growth, in addition to improving women’s health. The new technique forces the muscles to make at least 20 contractions. Exposure during the procedure not only activates the growth of existing muscle fibers, but also stimulates the appearance of new ones. So, even after diastasis, the girl will be able to return her body to perfect shape.
