Diapers for newborn boys: is it possible, harmful or not, how they differ
Boys’ diapers are controversial. It is believed that they have a bad effect on the reproductive function of men who wore them in childhood. Let’s try to understand this issue.
Are disposable diapers for newborns harmful or not?
There are often articles in the press devoted to the harmful effects of diapers. Citing the findings of German scientists, journalists claim that disposable diapers make men impotent. In fact, studies conducted in Germany only suggested that wearing diapers could further affect sperm quality. It is impossible to prove that the impotence of a particular man is connected with this factor. Too many factors affect the increase in male infertility, ranging from environmental degradation to a sedentary lifestyle.
The arguments of the proponents of this theory are related to the high temperature and the steam effect of disposable diapers, there are the following comments on this:
- In infants under 7 years of age, the tubules have not even formed, through which sperm must pass.
- The long-term effect of high temperature on a man’s scrotum slows down the movement of sperm, but does not stop their movement in any way. An experiment was conducted on a group of volunteers, which proved that daily immersion of the scrotum for 30 minutes in water at a temperature of 45 ° C reduces sperm activity only after 2 weeks. The temperature in diapers physically cannot rise to these limits.
- The temperature difference between normal and disposable diapers is 1 ° C.
- Men in hot countries are exposed to overheating for a long time, but this does not affect male functions.
- Boys with cryptorchidism – whose testicles have not descended into the scrotum – have no abnormalities if they had surgery before 2 years of age. At the same time, the temperature in the peritoneum, where the testicle was “stored” before the operation, is much higher than in the diaper.
Thus, we can conclude that diapers themselves cannot negatively affect the future man.
What is the difference between diapers and is it possible to choose them correctly
Disposable diapers are produced in many countries. They differ in the composition of the absorbent and in the parameters:
- choose exactly “men’s” diapers;
- pay attention to the size and weight on the package;
- do not keep your child in them all day;
- when changing the diaper, leave the baby a little “ventilated”;
- do not buy scented diapers;
- after 1 year, switch to “panties”.
Disposable diapers absorb moisture better than normal ones, so they cannot have a “greenhouse” effect.
Whether disposable diapers are dangerous for a boy, decide for yourself. There is no evidence of the bad influence of this convenient accessory.
